Need help with my Mistweaver

I am really trying to figure out where I am going wrong on my Mistweaver. Last patch and SL was a lot of fun and fairly straight forward with good outputs - hps.

Since the recent patch I am lost. I don’t have terrible gear - 437 ilvl perhaps not optimal and could use some tweaks and aspect upgrades.

Anyway I am looking at other mistweavers cranking out a ton of hps in heroic raids and I am just so far behind them. Then I look at the Mythic parsers and simply just can’t imagine how they are cranking out 200K hps. I get there is a lot of damage there but even their heroic parses are well above what I am able to get.

So is there anyone around a 437 ilvl cranking out 100K or better hps in raids that might help give some insight? I am not finding any real good vids on the net. All the things they say to do I am doing. I even watch the log replays of several parsers and I am like that’s the same thing I am doing. But clearly I am missing something.

What is the hps of the other healers in the raid compared to yours?

Healing is zero sum so you can’t just crank out more hps if there is either nothing to heal or you have good other healers, or maybe even having a raid be slightly healer heavy.

Unlike dps, every hps one healer does takes away the potential hps of another healer.

Unfortunately it’s pretty hard to give suggestions without logs or you being on the main itself but I shall try :3

Like mentioned above depending on your raid set up and how many healers, their skill, dps skill in avoiding/performing mechanics, etc it will vary how a healer looks on logs. If the fight was successful without issues and no one died to non-avoidable damage I wouldn’t worry too much.

If you are too shy you can put you log into this site yourself https ://wowanalyzer. com/ and it will give you some general tips, ( such as: use renewing mist more often, make sure you use your instant vivifies and sheilun stacks, rsk more…etc )

Review your talents and make sure you are picking up the best ones for the situation/encounter. I run this for our raids and it has been working for me:
Mistweaver Monk Dragonflight Talent Calculator - 10.1.0 PTR (wowhead.com)

It’s pretty chill, gets the job done. Make sure you pop sheilun’s for a lesson/buff a global before you would normally press revival, you also want to have essence font bolts on as many people as possible, if you are extending HoT’s with RSK/RM talent you’ll probably have them up, but if you need to get them out asap then TFT-EssenceFont-Sheilun’s-Revival is a quick way to get the combo out and if you run the Secret Infusion talent youll get a haste buff from TFT-EF’ing.

Make sure you are spreading renewing mists, you want as many up as possible and to be extending them.

Once you get a Call of Dominance trinket our Celestial becomes dirty strong and with the talent Invoker’s Delight you can get a ton of haste every minute, which helps immensely with spreading the breath HoT out and getting more actions during the Celestial window.

Make sure you are extending your HoT’s if you run Rising Mists and RSK-ing to get more RenMists, TP/BoK in free time to fish for resets and regen mana.

Make good use of your mana tea windows, if you plan to spam you can usually pop mana tea, it an be macrod with Yu’Lon. Mana tea also procs our tier bonus due to it being a tea.

Make sure you have your 4 set, 2 set is HUGE in terms of mana regen so start there. Rashoks trinket is very nice too, combined with the 2 set mana issues are rare, make sure you try to get 1-2 mana pots in the fight. If fights last longer than 5 mins you can usually get 2, once your group gets better fights get faster, people take less damage and you only use 1. Early prog on some fights you can prob get 2 though.

Find that balance between pumping and regenning mana during down phases while trying to end the fight at 0% mana. Also try to reduce overhealing as much as possible and work with your other healers. This eventually comes with doing the fights more and once you learn damage patterns. A sufficient amt of base haste is also helpful for this. ( I usually maintain 30% and then do other stuff )

Re-read all the abilities/talents and keep in mind the nuanced synergies and combinations each has, mastery, essence font, tftea with and without Secret Infusion, lessons of shaohao, soo mist/CF. There are a lot of combos/synergy with our abilities.

If you have more specific encounter questions or class/spec issues it might help to be more specific. The problem could just be that you are running with too many healers and like mentioned above there is only so much to heal during a raid boss.

This is also a really good site to help pick logs apart.

The timeline can really be helpful when trying to figure out rotations.

The cooldown tab is also really good to look at.

I also wouldn’t worry too much about parses. It really doesn’t mean much. For example, last tues our Rdruid got a really high parse on the first boss all because he stood in the circle the entire fight to take more damage.

To get a good parse in raid:

  1. Have the other healers not heal.
  2. 3 of the healers are bad and the 4th healer is soaking up all the HPS.
  3. Do the fight wrong and take extra damage.

Just remember killing the fight is the most important thing.

Thanks for the detailed responses. I will see if I can get into a heroic or normal and get some logs. I’m fairly certain I just need to get good and appreciate the help.

I’ll post them up for those to chew up and maybe it will be a quick find for someone to point out.

The other healers are restro druid, holy priest, evoker. Holy priest is at 440 ilvl and kicking 200k hps on mythic Rashok.

Granted I am more of the waterboy on the roster but we had people call out so I hopped on my monk to try to help get some prog in but it was awefull. Felt bad but it is what it is. Typically wouldn’t be in that situation. But since I was, I am now fixated to figure it out.

What build are you trying to do? CF or AT? I can give you rotations for CD windows if u want for either build.

If you don’t play (practice) MW much I would highly highly recommend the AT build because its much easier to play.

Also on mythic Rashok it will depend on your CD timings.
ALSO on mythic rashok you’ll tend to have 1 healer doing 200+K HPS and the others will usually sit in the 160-190k HPS range. Its just how the logs look for most guilds. Some guilds have all healers in the 180-190k range. Its really not a bad thing to have a healer sitting at 160k on rashok.

My timings for the fight are:

~23sec → Yu’lon / first heal absorb
1:08 → Revival / second heal absorb
1:30 → Yu’lon 2 / jump AoE

Next heal absorb → Yu’lon 3
My 2nd revival is right after this.

Those seem about right for the MRT CD Notes. However to be fair I really had/have no business in there healing on my Monk at this point. It was just to fill a spot of the 2 healer call outs we had. So a tough prog night. I popped a normal run into WoW Analyzer and well it said I need to re-roll and delete that spec. 75% eff on REM - terrible. I have a lot of work to do on rotation. I just can’t seem to get my REM’s to spread that well.

If you TFT your REM’s + normal fist rotation you should be able to have an avg of 7/8 REM’s out normally. I honestly don’t know if dancing mists will work in normal because there isn’t enough damage happening.

Yu’lon should net you another 4 Rapid Diffusion REM’s from the EVM spam (For CF build). Make sure to RSK after ur 4th EVM to ensure everything extends by 4sec. Can also pop ur mana tea on the 3rd/4th EVM to ensure you get the 4set proc for vivify cleaving.

11/12 EVM’s for vivify cleave is pretty decent healing.

MW really does take practice. There’s a lot of complexity to the spec. It’ll work in the end.

What do you think about using the talent for clouds every 4 seconds instead of the Lessons talent in mythic+?

For some bosses I’ve been debating going for more clouds to have ~8 up every 32 seconds which is basically every boss mechanic. I’ve been trying to stagger Yulun/Sheiluns for boss phases, but I could have Sheiluns up every time with that.

Just not sure if that is worth losing the lessons buffs.

Very good in M+. I run it.

Im only like 2500ish but thats what I do. I also try to reconjigger it to to get legacy so I have a heal everyone all the way up.

No one will like what I get rid of to get it though.

I can put out 100k easy if there is the damage to do so. What I have noticed is I get stuck in a “must have massive number of renewing mists” out mindset before I start spamming vivify. You dont. You can have 4-6 up and still hit massive numbers. The last boss of the raid when he does glittering surge I can easily hit 250k for bursts.
