Need help with Deepholm Thrall quests

I’m playing on a lvl 98 NElf balance druid, cleaning up my quest log, trying and failing to do the Call of the World Shaman quest line to get into Deepholm. Having gotten as far as Elemental Bonds: Patience, I’m now stuck. I get about three quarters of the way through the progress bar, when suddenly its like the elementals start hitting harder and they keep killing me in only one or two shots.

  • I’m not using any AoE stuff, being very careful to only pull one at a time
  • I’m being very careful to only pull non elites, not the big guys
  • I’m staying within proximity of Aggra’s totems and whatever buffs they give
  • I cant dodge the attacks because most of my spells are casts not instants
  • The first 10+ mobs go down fairly easily with no healing needed
  • Its always at around the same point in the progress bar that I get killed
  • Blizz support staff say that there is no indication of bugs and no other reports of similar

I’m told that if I abandon the quest chain there is a portal from Stormwind to Deepholm. When I went to check this out on a different character, the portal was locked, and I cant tell if this is because that one is under level or if its because that one hasn’t done any of the intro quests. I really really would like to finish it for the storyline.

  • Given that the quest chain is half way and appears to be phased, will I be able to pick it up again later?
  • If yes, where and who would I pick it up from?
  • If I cant pick it up again later, will the portal to mainstream Deepholm be usable on my level appropriate character?
