I’m trying to get WoW working on my laptop, I had it working at the start of BFA, by editing the config file to some very low settings. Somehow the settings must have reset because now when I load up on my laptop all I get is a black screen. Through messing around in the config file I was able to get into the game by randomly pressing on the black screen where my characters would normally be located. However once in game I can’t see any of my ui. So to reiterate the main screen is black and in game I have no ui and can’t seem to bring it up or any of the in game menu options. I didn’t see a resolution option in the config. I think maybe if I were able to lower the resolution I might have a shot, but I can’t seem to see how to do that, all googling of the matter has information from too long ago that is no longer relevant to the current config file. Can someone help me know which of these config file options to alter in order to hopefully get the game working on this laptop? Or how I can change the game’s resolution from outside the game. Thanks
As WoW only has two options for the game - windowed or fullscreen and neither really allow changing the resolution, you may need to change your desktop resolution first to a much lower setting.
Can you post a dxdiag. Highlight the entire thing and hit the preformatted text button, </>, at the top of the reply box to make it more readable.

That is a small snippet of the whole thing, it may be helpful to post the entire thing, but we can start there.
Firstly I would update windows completely as you’re several major updates behind. You might need to click “check for updates” to get them to show. There should be at least 2 major updates, maybe 3, as the most recent one is still undergoing a staggered release.
Secondly, your graphics driver is from a year and a half ago. I would check acer’s website and see what the most up to date driver is for that laptop. As best as I can tell, you’d want here https://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/support-product/8008?b=1 and be looking at the VGA driver, but you might try to confirm on their site i have that right. That most recent one listed is still kind of old - AMD also makes drivers for your gpu that are much more up to date. While AMD’s generic drivers are often what you’d prefer to use, in laptops sometimes OEM’s add in particular functionality that you can lose, so I would first see if using acer’s drivers helps. AMD drivers are here though https://www.amd.com/en/support/apu/amd-ryzen-processors/amd-ryzen-3-mobile-processors-radeon-vega-graphics/amd-ryzen-3-2
Lastly, and I don’t think this is causing your problem, so don’t stress over getting this done. But your BIOS has several updates, some of which may improve performance. But, you need to be cautious when updating your bios as it can potentially brick your computer, so if you aren’t that comfortable with computers I would get help if you want to do it.
Thanks mate, when I updated the video drivers using those from AMDs website it solved the problem even better than expected. When I got WoW working on this laptop the first time it was by lowering graphics settings through the config, which is why I was attempting to do so again, I just figured the laptop wasn’t strong enough. But with these updated AMD drivers it actually runs the game no problem with graphics at setting 4 on the sliding scale. So thanks again.
