You won’t deviate from your single target
rotation unless you have more then 10 targets and even then it’s still debatable. Haste, haste, and more haste. Get the expedient 3 corruption from the vendor if you can and put it on as many things as you can stand.
I’m still trying to acquire a set of balance gear. Unfortunately, other than azerite pieces I’m just doubling on my feral off pieces (vers/mast) so I don’t have enough haste.
I’ve followed the method guide and I’m still having trouble breaking past 40k.
What number should I be at? For simplicity’s sake I’ll say I’m working on m+.
Will gear changes alone help me break past this? I’m also seeing them mention incarn & fury of elune over starlord/shooting stars. Is this right?
I’m running treants for necrotic week and feels like people are taking me only for that utility and not my dps.
Utility is just as important as DPS in M+ and treats are the single best thing a balance druid brings to the table. Tettles is the writer of the Wowhead guide, and he completes in the MDI as balance druid (and streams balance M+ gameplay on Twitch all the time). I believe he currently runs Starlord/Fury of Elune in most cases, but it could depend on the dungeon and on your gear.
Your DPS can really vary from pull to pull, that’s just how it is. Balance AOE is awkward. If you’re worried about your DPS on bosses, you can use this to run a simulation with your character:
raidbots com/simbot/quick
You can tweak the parameters such as how much movement is in the fight, how long the fight is, what talents you are using, etc. Wait a bit and it will spit out your theoretical optimal DPS. Of course your practical DPS will be lower due to mistakes and mechanics, but it should give you an idea.
This isn’t entirely true. You want as much haste as you can get on your gear but probably only want rank 6 expedient, and then get as many severe as you can get (crit %)
Honestly it would help if you posted on the character so we can look at gear/traits and all that jazz. For the most part as others have stated already for M+ you’re really focusing on your single target rotation and multi dotting because balance aoe is trash.
As for gear and essences and etc definitely start checking out raidbots because that’s the best way to really figure out your best sets. Mess around with patchwerk sims with varying #'s of targets to get your best M+ results
The sim you linked also assumes flasks, pots, augment runes, someone in your group running symbiotic presence, and a raid fight with very minimal movement and mechanics. I wouldn’t be surprised to find your DPS lower than that
