Need help - don't understand Crusading Strikes

There is a node where you chose between Templar Strikes or Crusading Strikes. The node can be completely skipped because of where it is place, but I assume that the node is supposed to increase overall DPS in some way, so I assume is it wise to pick one of them instead of skipping it. I tried Templar Strikes, it seems OK. I think that having to push the same button twice in a row is a bit silly - they could have just upped the damage. The cooldown I have with it seems OK. My only concern is that I am generating holy power less frequently if I want to use Word of Glory. I tried Crusading Strikes briefly, but couldn’t figure it what is supposed to be happening. My Crusader Strike is gone, so I don’t know when or how often it is supposed to be generating holy power, or healing (2%). I am tempted to skip this node entirely simply because I understand how the default Crusader Strike works and I have it at a 3 sec CD. But I don’t want to skip a node that might be improving performance significantly.

So how is Crusading Strikes supposed to be used? Seems like I have less buttons to press, and it just feels odd.

Regarding Crusading Strikes, it’s similar to a talent that’s been around for Demon Hunters for years. It removes the ability to actively generate resources through Crusader Strike and passively rolls some of the damage and the HP generation into your auto attacks instead. I understand it seems to be a DPS loss based on what I’ve read here, but I really enjoy the talent and having one less button to press personally. It generates one HP every two swings, which does feel a bit awkward because it’s hard to track which swing will be leading to HP.

Thanks for the reply. I want to add that using Templar Strikes seems to generate a Holy Power with each button press. The tooltip says it generates one holy power, but I assume that is just wrong and applies to the original crusader strike.
