Need clarification on spart of omens

Hey all,

Just got my first of these for the seasons. It says that it can change an item level to 584-597.

I thought in DF I could put them into a 545 craft to make a useful piece of gear but in TWW I seem to only be able to put it in gear that is already 584. My blue 545 craftable are not giving me the options to slot the spark. I can only slot « enchanted harbinger crest » which I understand is an enchanter item.

Thanks for any tips as I thought I could craft myself a set of 584 to start endgame activities but I think I was mistaken

Anyone can clarify what these sparks are supposed to do ?

On the tooltip:

Provides the following property: Set starting Item Level based on Crafting Quality (584-597) and mark as Omen Crafted.

Thank you for answering,

I read the tooltip. I figured the use you would have of it is our it into a 545 recipe and it would set the starting level at 584.

What use does it have if it sets the starting level at 584 and I can only put it in items that are already 584. Unless I am missing something obvious

The sparks are used to craft those items. They are not an item level boost, but a necessary component for making those items. Once you have a spark, you can use an Enchanted Runed or Enchanted Gilded Harbinger’s Crest as part of crafting to make the items stronger. All epic items use sparks, and, based on DF, we are going to get new sparks in later seasons that have a higher base and take the next season enchanted crests.

it’s only for the purple crafted items.

edited to add: to change the ilvl of the purple crafted piece you need enchanted runed crest or enchanted gilded crest. The skill of the crafter also affects it’s ilvl as well i.e. what rank it ends up being after crafted.

Awesome , that clarifies it, thanks. I thought they were a booster but they are a component. Makes sense !
