Dad wants to buy me a new chair for my birthday since my current is finally dying after 10 years of loyal service.
It’s a mesh office chair, but most high rated chairs I’m looking at now are either leather, fabric or fake leather. Those types of materials make me think they are rather sweaty during summer? What do you have and what is your experience?
Mesh is nice and airy, but do require clothing to sit on as it’s rather rough on the skin…
And yes, I’ll be brutally honest. I sit on this damn chair all day. from 10am till 10pm.
I’m sure 10 years of…gaming…have been rough on that poor chair.
If only the walls could talk.
Aeron. Worth every penny.
I have no AC and it gets hot here in summer.
Nothing wrong with gaming in underwear!
Please elaborate, is that a material, is it a brand?
Dang. My chairs usually don’t make it past 3 years.
If you sit on it all day, get yourself something with nice lumbar support. Office supply stores like Staples sell gaming chairs now, you should visit one and sit on a few chairs to see what you like.
I find testing them out before you buy to be a much better way of getting a truly “good” chair.

Aeron chairs are made by Herman Miller. They’re iconic, expensive, and the only chair I can sit in that doesn’t aggravate my sciatica.

10 years sitting in a chair naked.
They probably can.
Anyways.
Herman Miller is supposed to be a really good brand. Not “gaming”, but what even is a gaming chair?
They’re pricey though.
I think DX Racer is a actual good brand too, despite being the over advertised cliché option.

Staples doesn’t exist here, I’m from Europe, but I do plan on going out and checking out shops and trying out chairs. I’m mostly looking for advice on the material, since I can’t no-life a 8h test in a shop. XD
in your underwear.
What about IKEA? Are they in Europe? Or is it that they only have a presence in NA? That’s where I bought my last chair. Mesh back, which is nice, and very comfy seat.
Also…Amazon. They deliver anything, everywhere.
Amazingly, Amazon isn’t that great over here! They actually have to pay people here by law and such. But we do have Ikea, just not locally.
Yeah, they don’t pay them here in NA. Amazon workers are called the Soulless, and have no rights.
I have a GM Seating Ergonomic Mesh Chair, been going 2 years and still in great shape. It is $280 on Amazon right now, which is $20 cheaper than I got it for in 2020.

My friend got fired from one of their warehouses for having a panic attack cause her coworkers didnt wore masks and were coughing all day… (during peak corona stuff) I prefer to avoid using their services whenever I can.
But that seems like two positive votes for mesh!
I use a Steelcase Leap. It’s expensive, but it’s amazing. And for the amount of time I spend at my desk it is well worth it. Steelcase has a good rep in general I believe and I highly recommend them.

Leap was on my short list when I got my Aeron. They’re definitely well regarded.
E-Win chairs are also nice
Get a business recliner. Same price, far more comfortable and they last longer.
Yea, I’m just looking for any kind of ergologic? chair that offers the right support and all that stuff. I’m just not sure about the type of material.
The worst professional mesh chair is far better than the best gaming chair imho.
But do as you like.
