I need advice on how best to spend my Emblems of Heroism. I’m a new lvl 80 warrior, dual spec Fury/Protection. I just finished all the regular quests in Northrend and acquired 120 Emblems of Heroism. What should I buy with them? If I have enough to buy 2 items, what 2 should be the first purples I buy?

Um, well, a lot of factors really.
Is this your only toon & are you planning on making this toon your main?
How’s your gold?
Don’t rush into blowing your badges.
- First, I’d get a 40 badge DPS trinket. You do NOT need a tank trinket.
- Farm Honor. You want to buy ALL PvP gear available for Honor. This will give you MASSIVE GS boost.
- Personally, I’d gem it full with +24 Stamina gems from Auction House (like 7-8g a pop) and buy BoE shield for like 700g (purple 200boe) and go off tanking ALL Beta Dungeons. Just go to LFG tool and put in a note with your gear score (should be about 4k with full pvp) and just collect tons of 225s and full 5/5 T8 set.
For next week or 2, just keep doing Heroic++ (Beta) and you will reach sub 5k. Then go off and find yourself TOC10 NORMAL at like 4.5k gs (actual tank gear) or dps gear.
To tank dungeons, you do not need much gear. Just don’t go crazy. Make sure to use your Demo shout and don’t sit on CDs for too long.
And as time goes on, and once you get like 245 pieces from TOC25, you will want to invest your badges into Epic gems (Solid colors cost 20 badges, and mixed cost 10).
Fresh toon gearing path is rather straight forward, but few initial steps are very very painful and time consuming. Unless you’re an RMT trashbag who swipes card for gold and buys gear.
Edit: Red gems cost 20 badges. They go for about 250g on AH right now.
So you could sell a few to get initial gold.
Won’t be enough. 245’s BoE go for like 3-5k depending on the server. There may be a few 225’s 232’s BoEs for a few 100’s of gold (if any), but with H++ and PvP gear available, I think it’s not worth it.
Epic gems, sell them and buy 245 chest and bracers off the AH. You can also buy a bunch of 232 gear for cheap as well.

I have this character and a lvl 75 Warlock I’m starting to get to lvl 80. I have approximately 23,000 gold between them, which I honestly earned through questing and being conservative. Now that my Warrior has completed all regular quests, time for my Warlock to do the same. He should be able to make 15-20k more gold by the time he gets to lvl 80 and finishes all regular quests.
If you’re a new player, even dungeon farm will be somewhat entertaining. Next time around, with your new alt, it will be rather painful though.

So looks like you’re taking it slow. Given your conservative approach, I wouldn’t rush into buying all best pieces of gear, unless you want to dive into Raiding on week 2.
Check out PvP vendors in SW/Org (depending on your faction) and Dalaran in Underbelly. Look how much pieces cost. If you can dedicate a few days into mindless battleground farming, do that. Get your honor. Get full PvP geared. Off to tank dungeons and replace it all with PvE items for both specs.
Full PvP, idk, 150k honor’ish, should be enough to get almost EVERYTHING from vendors - 5/5 set, neck, right, bracers & cloak. Buy stamina gems and go Beta tanking via LFG tool
I would get some prot gear just to have a easier time of getting into and doing heroic++.

really, you better be a tank MS, you will always be needed to carry out the beta, when you don’t have a tank, take 5.2k and sell the betas so you have money and get dps items and collect them, when you have between 4.8 - 4.9k dps, people call you to do anything.
A good use of emblems for a fresh 80 warrior would be get defence rating gear, get pvp gear, and do heroic +/++/+++ you will gear your tank and dps spec out much faster by not being a dps, but those i itial emblems should focus on filling in the gaps to have proper defence rating for those dungeons, as once you can tank those you can gear for raids faster.
