WotLK classic.
Hesitate to post this, but here goes. I last played a Warlock in beta WoW before 2004 release. Played for 11years as the following mains, Rogue, Mage, Pally. So my questions and need for build advice direction come from a feeling of lack of instant attacks in pvp for the warlock.
Currently at lvl 75 Affliction build and everything feels slow. Sure I can cast corruption, agony, …maybe affliction…but only if i am ranged and have time. If i get a face to face, say Rogue, warrior…i might as well get ready to rez at the GY. I just can’t get a fear off or i’m missing that escapability of other classes.
Should I go for more of a Destruction build? Is demo a better option for survivability, or do i get soul link with Destruction to survive more? Where would my insta-cast spells come from?
Need to rely on more of your toolkit to CC people. Give yourself space to cast.
I found destruction to be super fun and effective with lots of control and a LOT of dmg.
Fear, seduce, shadowfury, shadowflame slow, teleport. Learn to love them and abuse them.
Ok, thats a start. Would the Icy Veins builds for Destruction be right for talents? Im trying to get soul link.
You can get both soul link and chaos bolt by level 71. I just levelled in my PvP build and it is really quite fun. Affliction is super strong for grabbing every mob in sight and melting them all with syphon life corruptions.

You can see the order I learned them in too if you are lower level. Destro tree until chaos bolt, then into demo until SL.

These are both PVP oriented builds, but levelling is cake, and if you are on a PVP server, these will serve you really well.

I’m at lvl 75 and have the full Affliction with destro(?) sb and bane. I can see i need to adjust. What would your rotations be on Destruction in pvp? Still use corruption and agony to dot, then start with Destro based spells?
Edit: I like the look of that Destruction build you linked! That seems like something i should try. Do you still use corruption and agony? I guess you never wouldn’t as a Warlock? Just asking cause without the talent buffs, are they worth it.
No corruption, no agony.
The only dot you use is immolate, so you can cast conflag. Chaos bolt off CD and use incinerate as a heavy hitting filler. Overall conflag is usually my highest dmg in a PvP fight. Keep immolate up and conflag as much as you can!
Get the glyph that makes it so conflag does not consume the immolate dot.
The glyph for making seduce remove dots might be good too if you use succubus.
It’s all about abusing your CC and hitting really hard with your damage.
The YouTuber Nibbai has some great destro PVP vids, really helpful.
Destro is the PvP spec in Wrath, Affliction is solid too but not as forgiving to pilot as Destro.
PvP gets much much beter at 80 with Demonic Portal.
at 75 this should be your talent tree. Your next 5 points go into suppression followed by master summoner, or you can take 3 points out of Demonic Aegis for Suppression right now if your hit is low.
Other glyphs may look tempting but Conflag damage is based on your Immolate periodic damage, so Glyph of Immolate will help with not only your sustained pressure around the map but also increase your burst and kill pressure. Glyph of Conflag is a must have for any form of Destro if you dont want to drive yourself crazy.
