Three years on my 5ghz 8700k and it still hasn’t been beat by any AMD processor in gaming.
That said, I’d get a 5800x if I were buying soon.

Ryzen 5000 series goes on sale November 5th. If it sells like the 3000 series last year, it’s going to be hard to get during the first few days. Almost makes me not want to wait for Zen 4 next year (or the next).
Im looking at your cpu all i see is a box, does this mean you built this cpu or its all complete?
Wait for Zen 3, insane performance, solid prices. Better single core then Intel, way more options for multicore if you want a good multitasking workload. Cheaper Motherboards to.
Launching November 5th
Does give me 3 weeks of reading and thinking
I’m rocking an 8700k to, badass CPU =)
Going 5950x tho in November, AMD finally has Intel on single core performance, and the multi core is looking like a solid 500% increase on my 8700k.
The real question, is will 3080’s ever be available for sale, lmao
look at the 3070 compared to the 2080 that is why you might want to wait
If I upgrade, it will be so I can give my existing 8700k to one of my kids.
I am mostly a gamer, so the extra cores past 8 aren’t really a huge thing; one compelling thing about the 5800X is that hopefully it is all 8 cores on a single CCX.
If that’s true, it will have better latency than the 5950X.
Although, I am not sure if it’s been confirmed that the 5800X will be just a single CCX.
CPU: current: i7
GPU: current: Nvidia RTX ****
OS: win10
Drive & Storage: SSD, M.2
Ram: 16gb
MB: current Asus with i7 chipset
PSU: 750+ watts
Hope this helps!
5600x and a 3070 sir
Most people on here do not understand how to build a computer or what constitutes as a good computer to game on.
E.g., do not purchase a 3090 and put it into your Dell Stock computer and go I HaZ a GuD COmPuter… why dOes NotHing WoRk? Stupid DEVS!
lol nobody gets a 3090 except bots
True, but sub that out for a 3080.

Amazon Prime Day(s). SSDs are on sale so if you really need one, now is a good time as any (but the 1 TB and less Prime Day sale models seem to have sold out already).
All AMD 5000 series CPU’s are on the same CCX and will share L3 Cache, no more infinity fabric bridges, why the single core is finally beating Intel.
AMD Ryzen always, whatever model you can afford.
TBH, I would have argued Intel was the better product for gaming up until the 5000 series, but AMD is finally winning that war again.
Intel still makes solid gaming processors, will be interesting to see how they respond to AMD eating their lunch. (Last time this happened we got some insane stuff out of Intel about a year later)
Browsing the Amazon Prime days. Really have my eye on a 27" 4k monitor with built in USB “c” charging port. That would be convenient charging my phone.
If you want the newest generation stuff, its going to be hard/virtually impossible to recommend anything from the upcoming Ryzen 5000 series. For high end builds, I suspect strongly that the 10850k will become the default recommendation due to the fact AMD decided to absolutely destroy the cost/performance value of Ryzen 5000 cpus, especially the now $300 six core Ryzen 5600X, which costs nearly 50% more than the 3600X at $210.
If you don’t mind not having the newest generation, the Ryzen 3600X at $210 is basically impossible to beat (though the 3600 is available for $10 less, may as well get the X version), unless the $85 1600AF or the $120 3300X magically exist in the US again at some point.
If you have to have the newest generation stuff, but your budget doesn’t allow for the prices above, the ~$180 10400k will likely be becoming the default entry level six core cpu recommendation, especially as 3600 supply begins dwindling.
The problem is that while AMD will now be the default recommendation for the people who simply want the absolute best money is no concern products available, AMD decided to give up the best value for the money position they had previously.
Intel is going to become the new cost/perf default recommendation, and I think that’s a big problem for AMD. They simply priced they 5000 series CPUs too high, I don’t think the majority of the market is going to want to play ball at the prices they are asking. I foresee price cuts incoming very quickly after launch. Once the prices stabilize at $50-100 lower than they are currently, they will become a much better value option, but the launch MSRP is grossly overvalued.
