I’m scared to tank this week.
Is it as hard as people claim?

No. It’s drop easy to drop stacks.
Bounding Stride to be able to leap away more often when you need to drop is nice.
Or the Outburst buffed Thunder Clap for 50% reduction and then just leap/intervene away and charge back in as soon as they drop.
How many stacks i can get before running away?
Depends on your healer and how well you are at mitigating damage. Test things out
It can be intimidating on paper but it isn’t impossible to deal with. General points: it’s still most advantageous to hold still and tank mobs for as long as you can. When stacks start running high, use shield wall to increase survivability a lot. When you feel you need a reset, shockwave and leap away. Can be at 20, 30, or even 50+ stacks.
It’s chill nowadays. I tanked during Legion and it was like -5 off your key potential. Just make sure you communicate when you need to drop stacks, though warriors are actually mobile enough to do it by themselves easily.
Necrotic is a bad affix in general, since it punishes you doubly for trying to do the larger and riskier pulls to save time.
It’s a breeze compared to beforehand, as others have mentioned leap away or if kyrian you can use your phial OR spear of bastion (great for kiting when needed).
Then there is the factor of how many stacks can you and you’re healer comfortably deal with? Speaking for myself that would be 40+ stacks and it’s time to dip out.
