I’m fairly new to the forums and not sure if this has been suggested yet, but could we have necromancer just be redesigned versions of Unholy DKs, Frost Mages and Demonology Warlocks?
Frost Mage Talents would become Ice Talents. Ranged, High CC and cloth with a boneshard - style elemental pet.
Demonology Warlock Talents would become Apothecary Talents, with wild imps becoming zombies that do physical damage. Leather and mid-range to make up for lost warlock skills with a variety of pets for different situations.
Unholy DK Talents could become Necrolord Talents. Doing melee, wearing mail with a damage mitigating caster pet.
I think this would fit the meta of the game perfectly while satisfying a lot of the player base. The right-hand talents would all match already existing talent trees, and be augmented by the left-hand class tree and hero tree.
By having a new class with a variable play style built on already popular talents, many people that play DKs, Mages and Warlocks would readily adopt the class even just for the aesthetic. Furthermore, having different class talents affecting the same spec tree could help better balance all the classes moving forward.
I’d love to hear your thoughts on this and find out if people have had any similar ideas in the past!
