Necromancer, a new subclass of mage or whole new class

My instinct would still be to do a simple reskin of demonology warlocks. Change imps to skeleton archers, other demons to other undead, fel magic with death magic.

Would this miss anything that would be essential to the fantasy of the class?

For me, personally, no, and I like the idea of class skins that don’t affect class design or mechanics over coming up with a whole new thing that ends up not working or getting nerfed to oblivion.

I mean, Warlocks were the original necromancers of Warcraft, even predating the first DKs… because they MADE the first Death Knights by transferring Orc souls into dead human bodies. Among other horrors unimaginable taught to them by Dreadlords.

I personally would love necros. In my mind a Pally and a priest are like a DK and a necro. The OG 3d mmo had shadow nights and nerco and I loved it.

Whenever these fantasies pop up and have “like another already existing class” in the description you know they are a terrible idea

Swear to god if one of you says the usual line I’m going to poop on the floor…

“Well, Necromancers are different from Warlocks because Necromancers summon undead!” And not elaborate what would make the Necromancer different from anything else.

Thank you. We already essentially have two necromancer classes, (DKs and Locks). Having a new class using witchcraft would be more interesting.

So, basically, you want a Demo Warlock but with skeletons.

I support an undead horde generating option for WoW…whatever form.

You mean like they did to Warlock when Demon Hunters released? Nuuuu, they’d never gut a class to make another… :dracthyr_cry_animated:

Yes, I’m salty about demon form. Still.

Yes indeed on that.

Necromancy is based on fel energy so it’d bena warlock subclass if anything.

I would love this. I know we have deathknights but I want to play a necromancer and raise zombie minions. I feel like a forsaken would be the perfect race to be a necromancer.

Maldraxxus is the birthplace of necromantic magic. Necromancy is death magic. Fel magic is the manifestation of Disorder in the Great Dark Beyond and the Twisting Nether.

These forums are the birthplace of necro. Been seeing a few older threads getting dredged up. And no, mages don’t need a fourth dps spec.

nobody looks at hunters and thinks ah yes, this will let me feel like a necromancer. are you stupid on purpose, elf?

salty about a ability that never made sense for warlocks. grow up.

Mages do not need a 4th spec. That would be a waste of potential for a necromancer…

If it is going to be done it needs to be a full class.
