I have a suggestion for a new class of Hero.
I feel that this could be an easy integration into part of the Mage class.
Or a new class of its own.
Necromancer. WOW has skirted around the use of the Necromancer since Wrath of the Litch King, and has danced arpund this topic in several releases since then as well. There is now another opportunity to release this as a new class.
Features that necromancers use are already in use over several classes.
Raise dead. From Death knight
Most of the pet skills from Beast Masters
Casting from all classes
As far as attributes it follows the casting class of magic. Ie intelligence
It is possible to include armor to rise to plate as the level reaches higher levels.
I feel that this could be a workable class in the current WOW system.
Thank you for reading. Please add your thoughts to this idea.
Foneguy. Silvermoon server
My thoughts are we pass on this
Death Knights.
Classes having four specializations have always been a mistake as Druid prominently proves.
Then play a hunter.
New ideas are way better than exercising via beating dead horses.
Literally no, mages hate necromancy to the point they are kinda outlawed to ever practice it. You know what they call mages who mess around with death magic? Necromancers or warlocks.
New class with the specs Blood, Frost, Unholy.
Blood is the healing and/or support spec, Unholy is the mass minions and shadow damage, Frost basically has you work towards becoming a WC3 lich.
I would love necromancer to be a brand new class all by itself just to shut up the mouth breathers who keep saying it’s nothing more than an unholy death knight and a warlock.
4th specs are very unlikely to happen. And I like how everything is a mage 4th spec. Time, Necromancy, Spellblade, Spellbreaker. Mages are going to need like 8 specs to fit in everything people want to assign to it.
There’s potential for a death magic using caster/healer, but it probably wouldn’t look like the necromancer people want. A more benign take on death magic with Spiritmenders and Soulbinders as inspiration has space to grow, but it’s not the plague and death and zombies people want.
Necromancer would fit shaman better imho.
I’d rather not have a necromancer in name spec.
We have unholy for pet army.
What I want is a 4th dk spec inspired by d2, bonemancer.
Int based plate class. Caster. Uses bone spells for physical/shadow damage. Uses their own hp like a locks burning rush,in the form of blood spells to either buff or apply another type of spell or dot.
Necromancy is not popular among mages. Kel’Thuzad was the exception, not the rule. We’re the only cloth-wearing spec that doesn’t specialize in magics considered taboo, and if you take that away, then the three will start to run together.
Or Liches, closer to Liches than anything given Kel. Most Liches are ex-Kirin Tor Mages afterall.
Warlock, traditional Shamans (IRL Shamanism is a form of mediumism or Necromancy), or even just a new class would be better.
Rogues could also have a shot to become a necromancer. Now I hear you already.
“Wait what? Rogues don’t have that kind of magic!”
But rogues could use their abilities at deception and subterfuge to make people think the dead have risen. They could take a corpse left on the battlefield and use it as a meat puppet to confuse the enemy. Or they could stay out of sight behind the body as a shield against attacks. Most versatile of all, specialty poisons could be used to force the corpse to move in a certain way without the need to return the soul to the body.
The “Weekend at Bernie’s” class?
What is the opportunity?
See that adds precedent to my idea. Everyone in those movies thought Bernie was alive even though he had died weeks or months prior.
Easy go play Diablo.
And as another mentioned Death Knights.
The number one thing that would happen is they would steal half of the Unholy tree to do so.
Mages give life to inanimate objects, so why not do it to corpses?
Best I can do is a 4th spec for Death Knights.
It casts Frostbolt volley to win like the ones u see in NW.
If we use arcane magic to violate the sanctity of the dead, it’s no longer reprehensible. That’s what Talia taught us.
Raise the dead with death magic? Yucko. Bad guy. Litch King. Call the police.
Raise the dead with The Light? Perfectly fine.
We have necromancers already, they are called Death Knights.
