Necrolord covenant ability for DH [ Fodder to the Flame] is bugged

Yes, I know I represent a small portion of the V DH playerbase but I’ve noticed recently that [Fodder to the Flame] is bugged and that our [Throw Glaive] ability sometimes does not always inflicted lethal damage to the demon and it ends up surviving anywhere between 10% health to 50% after a [Throw Glaive]. I was running a PF 18 the other night and [Fodder to the Flame] multiple times during the run the demon would survive after multiple [Throw Glaive] uses. At one point during the run it took 3 [Throw Glaive] to kill the [Fodder to the Flame] demon that spawn. Other times it works properly and always inflicts lethal damage to the demon but as of late it seems like its around 30%-45% chance that [Throw Glaive] won’t inflicted lethal damage to the [Fodder to the Flame] demon.

Also sometimes when the demon spawns it evades for a few seconds before it becomes “active” to take damage.

It seems like a pretty big issue that needs to be fixed and I was just wondering if any other Necrolord DH have experienced issues with the demon not taking lethal damage 100% of the time from [Throw Glaive].

I have not experienced an issue with it as of yet.

I play necro havoc and haven’t experienced it but my guild necro vdh has it happen to him. Wonder if it’s just bugged for vdh or if I’m blind/lucky.

It does happen as I had it happen to myself (I was necrolord up until lvl 59). Not sure why, however I am unclear as to whether our throw glaive is even supposed to kill it in a 1-shot or just deal x% enhanced damage to it (thus not a guaranteed kill).

To give the developers some more information to look at for this:
The reason this is hard to replicate is because the issue is with the health scaling of the demon. The Demon’s HP value seems to scale with our own HP Value, and the throw glaive against it will scale as well to make sure it does lethal damage. In most cases, this scaling works as intended.
Every time I have had this bug happen (which is happening a lot more lately), is whenever I am in Metamorphosis. I don’t know what it is, and I don’t know why it’s happening, but if Fodder to the Flame procs when I’m in Metamorphosis, it has more health than the other Fodder to the Flame procs, because I have more HP. The Throw Glaive, however, is not scaling the same way, and will continue to deal a flat 15-17k damage; despite the demon now having 3-4k more HP than that. It feels like a bit of an oversight, but it is making this ability very clunky at a time where it should be working at its most functional.
This is just my interpretation of the issue; along with trying to hone in on it a little bit better. I’d say I could try to get footage of this for confirmation, but it’s really hard to replicate because it has to happen during a specific window of time.

I said this would be hard to replicate, but it happened basically immediately. In the combat log, it shows that it took two throw glaives to kill the fodder demon, with a whopping 11k overkill on the second throw glaive. It’s a little fuzzy, but I tried to show the HP values of the fodder demon both times. At least, I showed that it’s not instantly dying to a throw glaive. I also kept recording to show how this compares to how the fodder demon usually works (it pops, you throw glaive, it dies).

The demon somehow scales with our character, like Havoc in pve I have not had these problems, but in Torgast I have realized that when my life is very high, the demon life also increases and at some point I cannot kill him with one [Throw Glaive]. If our life in any way affects the total life of the demon, it is normal for the DH-V to experience this problem if they are very well equipped since they have much more life than the Havoc and less damage

I have also been experiencing this while leveling my DH. I was hoping that once I hit max level/got more powerful/more gear etc., that this wouldn’t be an issue, but from the other posts on this thread it seems to be :frowning:

if you are in a pack of enemies maybe the glaive didn’t hit him. sorry to tell but blizz dont care about dh, took them so many years to fix pvP talents, realize that chaos strike was not working, double soul healing as tank etc… people are leaving blizz and i guess the new interns cant find how the code works after 15 years, i am pretty sure is terrible.

I am glad to see the bug fixes so that our demon remains attack able by only us. I can agree demon scales off our max health , and is minor inconvenience when you want to kill instantly but can’t. The ability does feel a ton better than what we had in 9.0, so I appreciate the changes the devs made.

Still an issue.
