Necrolord balance druid? Is it THAT bad? (M+ only)

So I am wondering if necrolord balance druid really is a like 30% DPS loss over night fae.

I keep seeing everyone say that you should go nightfae, but I honestly wanted to go mostly for a healer. Now that they buffed Verdant Infusion + necrolord.

But I will need to do balance quite often :confused:

So FML.

Do you push hard content that it would matter that much?

Do your keys in the next few weeks so you will get all the gear/valor farmers to carry you! That’s what I am doing :wink:

I was curious about this myself, so I went looking tonight and found a link from a Druid Discord that I’m told is highly regarded.

What I found was this:

It shows Night Fae - Niya being well ahead on the DPS chart.

The first Necrolord Soulbind is in position 4, with a 400 point DPS loss.

You won’t be TERRIBLE as Necrolord, but Night Fae is clearly better.

My advice don’t worry about the POTENTIAL dps you could have unless you are not meeting your goals.

If you are running the content you want to and timing keys you need and doing your job by contributing the needed DPS then what’s the problem?

If you need to always be at the top of the damage meter or obsess over your parses or are failing DPS checks you are geared for then look into min/maxing a bit more.

Let the content tell you if you need to make a change.

Never trust General Discussion for advice on how to play the game. These forums are plagued by people who give advice based on how they play as solo/LFR tier players.

The Druid discord is a far better place for these questions. Though that being said, for Druids you’re going to have to put in far more work for less reward if you pick Convoke, especially if you’re playing Balance a lot.

The swarm thing could be good if it lasted more than a few seconds. They always say they balance stuff around the last patch so maybe they will be better in the future, just not right now compared to night fae.

Yeah that’s why verdant infusion with it is the only reason why I’m seriously looking at it again. Can pop that thing to 22 (or even more) seconds in length. It’s kinda nuts.

Yes.

But it’s not bad because you’re Necrolord. It’s bad because you aren’t Night Fae.

Convoke solidifies Balance’s role as an extremely powerful spec with one of the best 3-minute cooldowns in the game. You have the AoE and utility for M+ trash; with Convoke+CA or Incarn you have the single-target for the M+ bosses too, while being so strong in raids that your power is played around on several bosses.

If you’re Necrolord you basically throw all that away for… some reason.

Yes, sadly.

You can do KSM as necrolord, but it will be harder.

Convoke the spirits is just such a good versatile cooldown that fills a massive hole in resto and balance specs.
