I just got a neck from M+ and tried to add sockets on it. I was told that it is not possible to add sockets on it as the Tiered Medallion Setting’s quality was too low? It was rank 3 already.
So, no sockets on necklace in S4?
My neck comes with a socket on it. All the settings cannot be used on it.
I have another one without any socket. Setting can work on it. So, is this intentionally to be set up like this? Or it should be fixed asap?

ive also just found a neck with a pre determined socket in it, and i cannot add settings even all as 3 stars
M+ drops being restricted is odd. I know the Dreamsurge vendor neck pieces in 10.1.7 and beyond couldn’t have additional sockets added to them, but that wasn’t a problem for M+ drops prior to S4.
Probably another bug.
yea it says the quality of your tiered medallion setting is too low to add another socket to this item, and im only trying with 3’s so meh we’ll see
I really like that the OP says they used a rank 3 to try to put the socket in and most of the people responding are like “did you try using a rank 3 to put in the socket??”
Some times I wonder if people read past the title before commenting.
I added 3 sockets. All Rank 3. I know if you use a rank 3 and then try a rank 2, you can get that error. That’s the only time I’ve seen that happen, today has been a buggy day though
got Bromach’s disentombed locket today from Uld. socket upgrade when looted, unable to apply rank 3 Tiered medallion setting
Can confirm, 506 Bromach’s neck (gem slot as well) dropped for me from Uld and cant put sockets on it.
I wonder if the jewel crafters need to make a new socket?
i dont think so i have a champion neck peice that i was able to socket. But for some reason my heroic peice that proc’d a gem that dropped from uldaman wont accept new sockets. Think its a bug to peices that already dropped with a socket

Well, I guess I’ll be upgrading my crafted neck first.
I got a 506 neck last night and socketed it 3 times no issue (M+ drop).
Sounds like necks with a socket drop are bugged.
i got an awakened Magmorax’s Fourth Collar ilvl 502 came with a socket, same bug. Cannot add tier 3 Tiered Medallion Settings

Got Champ neck "Custodian’s Medallion of Delusion from BH last night and also unable to add another 2 Gem slots. Had one already.
Same deal, Cant socket my 489 neck, no sockets prior to attempting.
Blizz needs to address this and fast.
