Nearly 10,000ms World Latency

I am having an issue where I will join a raid group or even a regular BG and suddenly I am spiking to near 10,000ms, holding around 8,000ms at minimum. I do not understand how or why this is going on. This is not home latency at all, my wife plays on a computer right next to me and receives none of these problems. Any help would be appreciated as I would rather this not happen when attempting to do rated stuff or mythic content.

Probably belongs in tech support, but let’s give it a shot.

Wired or wireless connection?

Identical computer to your wife’s? Hardware and software?

Wired, generally identical though her parts are older than mine. Like I said, latency is 50ms Home, way higher World.

Can you see what happens if you swap ethernet cables wth your wife? It could be a cable…

Yea it was not the cable.

Hey, Suhrima!

As this is only happening on your system, then it is likely a client related problem. The most common causes of World spikes like this is a corrupted character profile. Corrupted and broken data gathering addons can cause memory overflow and cause major lag spikes and disconnections in group settings.

I would recommend logging to the character select screen and disable all of your addons using the disable all button in the addons window to see if it helps.

If not, I would recommend defaulting everything and doing a full UI reset. Make sure you uninstall Twitch prior to this, as it will not allow you to reset your UI properly if you have it installed.
