Naxxramas Tier 3 Statistics!

TLDR: grinding Naxx for Tier 3 is not worth the time.

So a buddy of mine between last week and this week ran Naxxramas on all of his toons (300 dented helmets) and got nothing. I did the same and purchased roughly 250 and also got nothing.

Take that average (275) which means so far it’s less than 0.36% chance and that’s not even factoring in the 25% chance of it being cloth, leather, mail or plate.

I may have done my math wrong, but that is roughly 0.09% chance to get the piece you’re after (example: warrior seeking Tier 3 helmet). That means you have to buy 1,111 dented helmets (ON AVERAGE) to get the one piece you want! JUST ONE PIECE FOR CRYING OUT LOUD! That equates to roughly 75 Naxxramas full clears.

If you are just starting out and you are wanting to get a full tier 3 set, just RNG alone you are looking at about 600 Naxxramas runs for a single set. None of this has factored in the mandatory 3 million gold for BOP mats.

WAIT IM NOT DONE! DON’T GO ANYWHERE!

On top of **ALL ** that, if you want any of these pieces to your Tier 3 set you MUST find someone on your server who possesses the achievement “Drop Dead Gorgeous” which is obtained upon getting 8 pieces of any tier 3 armor. If you don’t have that individual around anywhere on your realm, then it’s a big fat bummer!

BLIZZARD! Is this some kind of joke???

Rome wasn’t build in a day. Neither will the completion of your tier 3 set. It’s a journey. Run a few and take a break.

Run a few and take a break. It’s only 100 hours, literally, of grinding Naxx efficiently… with it having a weekly reset.

You can’t realistically farm tier 3 this way. Not even close. It seems intended to be that way, actually. Might see a piece pop up on the AH for millions here and there and that’s about it.

The primary method is still BMAH 100% which is such a shame. There was so much potentially bringing this armor back, but it’s still earned not by skill, but by gold and hundreds of hours of time.

Took me 8+ months of checking bmah on multiple servers every night at 2am to get every redemption piece, you’ll be fine :ok_hand: lost shoulders twice as well. Alternatively you’re free to try your luck at snagging a piece on the bmah for a low price

It gave a farmable alternative for those afraid of bmah pvp

We’re not talking about removed from game items, t3 was still obtainable. No reason to make it easier, now there’s just an alternative for those scared of bmah

Anyone can absolutely get bracers/belt/helm for min bid (10k), and certain sets pants/boots can easily be gotten on the bmah with patience, so then just farm shoulders/chest from naxx. And its probably cheaper to farm nax shoulders than buy them from bmah as most t3 shoulders can go for 1-2m each

I would hardly call this an alternative method, or farmable. By any means.

BMAH is clearly the primary/intended method still which is a giant disappointment.

And that’s fine, bmah is a legitimate ingame thing that’s worked since mop, and T3 has been on it ever since. People can continue to get T3 from it

Why doesn’t everyone use the bmah idk, but now they have a sure way to farm a specific piece if they so wishes without having to deal with whatever anxiety they get from getting into bidding wars with other players, or a certain way to slowly work towards the gold required instead of aimlessly waiting 5 months before an item shows up on the bmah on the one day they’re away from home :woman_shrugging:

I personally don’t feel it was necessary to add a second method to acquire something that was still available ingame, but the bmah clearly scared a lot of folks and now they have a deterministic way to acquire it :muscle: the gold sink/time sink is imo spot on and avoids the annoyance of the item you want showing up the one day you can’t stay up or the one day you lent gold to your buddy to renew his sub and now you can’t outbid the other guy who’s gonna get your piece for only 100k

Just frustrating. The only way to get this armor is by being rich. I never understood why gating Tier 3 armor, specifically, behind gold was thought of as a good idea. There are so many better ways that this could have been handled, hence my frustration.

Most people that are so quick to defend it, are the ones who spent millions of gold and years of their time scouting the BMAH and don’t want others to have it without going through that same struggle. Which, mind you, I have 4 tier 3 sets completed now so I know what it’s like. But I’m not over here telling others they can’t have the set unless they go through what I went through as well. Its just silly. What ego is there to flex?

I’ll just wait for the nerfbat to smack it.

I’ve done a fair few secret quests, none have ever seemed this insane.

That blemish in my collections is going to aggravate my OCD, but dang… That’s some nuts requirements.

I can deal with the ridiculous 3m gold price tag for vendor-bought, BOP mats.

I can deal with the low RNG from the Dented tokens.

Those are just time-sink grinds I can pop in and do when I’m bored with the current patch.

But this…

… is the dumbest part of the whole thing. If there was just one thing I could change about this whole implementation, it’s this stupid Feat of Strength requirement.
