After killing Thaddius, why does everyone, both positive and negative charges, have to spread out until their charges expire? It’s obvious why people of opposite charges have to do so, but it’s not clear to me why the same charge guys have to stand apart.

We positives or negatives were all standing next to each other during the fight, though. And I’ve seen speed runs that use the polarity buffs to kill Sapphiron fast. And when that happens, they split into 2 groups once again, packed in tight.

If I remember correctly it is possible for the debuff to falloff slightly sooner and you damage anyone without the same debuff. Like if you die and get battle ressed, if you res next to everyone with either debuff charge then you instantly die lol.
The charge debuff upon expiring deals damage based on the number of stacks you have. If you’re stacked with more then 3 people you’ll likely get one shot. This damage happens regardless of whether you’re with the same charge or not. So you absolutely must spread out or you die. You can safely stack with those of the same charge in pairs of two without being one shot.
Alternatively you can pop a flask of petrification just before the debuff expires. This is often done if you do polarity Sapphiron which is where you take the Thaddius debuff and use the massive damage increase to kill Sapphiron in 20-25 seconds.
If you don’t kill Sapphiron fast enough with this method it’s a guaranteed wipe. You have to kill Thaddius immediately after the charge debuff goes out in order to have enough time on the debuff. Additionally you have to pop a limited invulnerability potions if you’re in the charge group that’s in front of Sapphiron so you don’t die from the cleave and drop masterwork target dummies to absorb cleave and drain life debuffs. All warriors must pop recklessness and death wish in order to have the DPS to kill fast enough.
Very very risky.
