And as far as being mathematically balanced, it really isn’t about that. The gear itself isn’t actually that diverse. The fact that they came up with the brilliant idea of having some of the best PVE gear behind the PVP Honor system is genius as well. There was a clear lack of understanding for how the game mechanics worked by the itemization group and it shows.

I have as of yet to defend retail in any capacity. Classic has warts. I am not suggesting we go to retail levels of change. But this was something in their control and they specifically chose to delay it needlessly. You agree with that decision. I thought it was a poor decision. I don’t think anyone is arguing that the decision’s result is that a small population will actually use the items vs. what would have been a large amount had they been released in late July. I feel justified mocking Blizzard for this decision because it was poorly made at the time and the items ended up being mostly worthless by the time they were dropped.

That’s something that would never happen lol. It isn’t so much that I am overreacting as feeling pretty derisive towards the decision generally.

It’s on horde side but they are super low on shaman.

I mentioned Visc because it’s their last hurdle. Less than a month ago they were still on Huhu, they still have issues there. This is a realm that has had the war effort completed for months.

They started progressing better once they merged guilds, seeing their struggle leaves me to think that other guilds may be even worse off. I’m sure some players will appreciate the catch up gear.

There are also fresh 60 alts who still go for nr gear so that they can join alt raids. The new gear mats are quite low cost, I know a player who recently paid 100g per drop in mara so that he could join an alt raid on his fresh 60 warrior.

Still plenty of guilds that struggle with Huhu out there. Still plenty of guilds that never killed vis.

It has it’s uses. And for non world buff or stacked raids still has value if they use NR on huhu. Its better stats.

Yes. And I am happy for these guilds. Genuinely. I want literally everyone to kill the crap outta anything they are going for. But ultimately, that decision made it so that all the things you just outlined only apply to a very small subset of players. Had they actually put these out when P5 released, the number of players who could have also gotten use from them would have been significant. That’s the frustrating thing. And the worst part about it for me is that the decision was arbitrary.

Think about that for a second. How many of these guilds currently struggling to down the content in AQ40 might have already downed it and been working on gearing up and being prepared for Naxx? How many of these struggling guilds lost members repeatedly, broke up, or just had people quit in frustration? I am not saying this gear solves that. It doesn’t. But if it even kept 10% of the players that struggled engaged that would have been worth it.

Dunno. It was a bad decision. I am happy for the people who need this gear to get over the hump. I just wish they hadn’t ignored everyone else in the name of “catch up gear.”

Yes, thank you for delaying the release of this nature resistance gear even though you had items like BRE, Onslaught Girdle, Lionheart, and upgraded Rank 14 weapons and armor in the game since phase 1 and 2.

Makes sense to delay these nature resist pieces until now.

I would argue that the rank14 weapons were the big problem cause it helped trivialize content on top of the world buffs before it was meant to be that strong.

r14 weapons have the same power as bwl/rag weapons and are way harder to obtain.

I agree, but what I don’t agree with is their decision to release these rank 14 weapons on launch of phase 2 while gating nature resist gear that an actual benefit to a minority of players instead.

They chose to release updated versions of weapons and armor that significantly affected gameplay and raid encounters right away, but not this? These two decisions are conflicting with each other.

The timeline is exactly equal. It would take bare minimum 12 weeks in Phase 2 to reach Rank 14 and earn the epic weapons. How many weeks has it been in Phase 5 before NR gear launched? Oh right, 12 weeks.

Yes but you got the buffed phase 6 ones, and not the ones that were in at the time.

Except the rank 14 weapons and the epic armor sets shouldn’t have been in the game in their current upgraded form until Phase 6 with Naxxramas. You’ve had items from patch 1.11 Naxxramas in the game since BWL was released. This is a much larger time disparity and gave players items and armor that should not have been in the game yet.

If they were willing to release these upgraded weapons and armor rewards from pvp ranks that early, why were they then so insistent on time gating nature resistance catch up gear instead?
