Hes the only human to ever be allowed in the Rangers. In vanilla Alliance had to get a raid party to kill him for a quest. Hes never been just a trainer.

Sylvanus’s toy boy.
Also he does have a pretty cool commanding presence even though he has really passive aggressive replies. In addition to the War Campaign, he led a better expedition into Stormheim than the Alliance did.

He’s a lost opportunity of a character for sure. He could’ve been a really cool supporting character if he had any personality beyond “yes sylvanas-sama” and “lol u suck”.

Nathanos as a character has always been terrible, a do no wrong, epitome of human potential sort of character with a really cheesy story that somehow saw him knee deep in elf affection.
Doesnt help he is a creation of the Senior Narrative Designer that seems to take it all a bit personal.
He should have faded off with Me’dan long ago, in my opinion.

Actually, he was. In Cata, that quest was removed and he became the hunter trainer in Undercity.

Self insert lore characters tend to be annoying. Thrall is a little less annoying than Nathanos, but both have annoyed people. I have no idea how many self insert lore characters there are in WoW, but those are the only two I can think of off hand.

Everyone either forgets how hardcore he was on vanilla or never experienced it.
Used to loooove messing with allies trying to kill him in plaguelands
Same thing with rexxar in desolace back in the day
He’s there to act like a tough guy, but in any decent RPG, we’d be able to give him as much crap as he gives us.
Reminder: Last expansion we killed a weakened Titan, not a keeper, a Titan, whose’s aspect was Death.
This guy should probably watch his mouth with us.
