Now I know this is going to sound like salt because I don’t have one (and that’s almost certainly a part of it, I’ll be honest), but I will note that I’ve been playing since BC and never gotten any legendary drops (besides Legiondaries)…it’s not just the low drop rate that makes it so frustrating.
I think that this legendary is unique. No other legendary has the same combination of factors that make it so special.
- There is a quest/scenario associated with it. To my knowledge, there hasn’t been any major quest content hidden behind low drop chances since vanilla.
- The item and quest are closely tied to the story of the Dracthyr. Previous low drop rates have typically been cool lore items tied to the enemies we just defeated, not tied directly to the lore of our race with quests and everything.
- There’s a community event tied to it. My guild was excited to work on the legendary with our Evokers, but despite multiple of us killing it every week, we haven’t gotten to do so yet.
- The region wide callout. There have been overworld events for legendaries before…the Tarecgosa staff springs to mind, but that’s from an accessible quest chain, not a crazy low drop chance (and wasn’t region wide no matter where you are in the game).
- It’s tied thematically to the new specialization coming out. It feels like it’s meant as a precursor to expanding our powers, but most of us won’t be able to enjoy that.
For the record, I do think that tying it to mythic world first was great and made a really cool moment, with the world joining in for the first time the quest was done. I think that’s worth exploring more (and worthy of a region wide callout and world event…once).
To me, this item feels more like an artifact weapon than a standard legendary. It’s tied into our story, and shouldn’t be restricted. I know that this would be controversial, but I personally wouldn’t mind if it stayed with us throughout the expansion…it’s that special that I think it deserves more of a spotlight.
At the very least, I think it should be treated more like Wrath/Cata legendaries - anyone can start the quest, but it takes some time and collaboration to finish. Nasz’uro…kinda has that, but it’s still hidden behind a super low drop rate.
If changes are made, I hope that they happen soon so that players can experience the story and play with their new item while it’s relevant. Raising the drop rate after the game has moved on (both in story and item level) would remove a lot of the excitement.
And no matter what, PLEASE remove the region callout. It was neat the first few times, now it’s just frustrating. If it stays at the current drop rate, it’s just there to mock the players who don’t get it (which is most of them). If it’s opened up to more players (which it absolutely should be), then it’ll be going off far too often.

I don’t have a problem with the way it is now, but I do agree with the idea of a guaranteed quest drop rate off of sark and materials that drop, maybe from raid bosses (and higher quantities in higher difficulties) that requires a significant time investment.
That said, it isn’t what we got and they’re not going to change that now. The only thing they can do is increase the drop rate which I’m doubtful they’d do until at least 10.1, but probably not at all.
It’s not an insane power spike so I’m not ultra salty about the fact that I probably won’t get it, but I understand everyone’s different in that regard. I personally really like super exclusive stuff and don’t align with people that think that everyone should be able to get everything (not saying this is you, your post is FAR more rational than some of the tearjerkers I’ve seen).
Either way, best of luck to you (us) on reset.

I usually try and steer away from classes that have legendaries because I don’t really see myself ever getting them so I can’t feel like I can be at max potential but this time I’m not switching again. I’ll make do.
Nah, the most frustrating legendary was Thori’dal: The Stars’ Fury, a legendary bow intended for hunters from the sunwell plateau. Because the first one ever looted went to a rogue instead.

You mean the best legendary, that was karma for all of the Hunter Weapons of the past.
Why people care about server call outs? I love them. Everytime i see a call our i am like “oh nice, lucky you”

Difference being massive. A guild (or guild lead) CHOSE where the bow went. Unlike now where if a guild would like to get there evoker a leggo the choice is be top sweaties doing M sark already or get exponentially lucky. Theres no choice. The loot has a dumb low drop chance and can go to alts of alts on their first lfr rather then mains working on their charaters weekly. Its not prestigious anymore its just dumb luck. So much so that the community are now literary spam creating , deleting, and recreating dragons every day to “farm” the leggo. If thats how the community has to “put in time” to get the legendary instead of playing/enjoying pthe content created for end game progress to get an end game weapon…there is an obvious problem that needs addressing.

I mean, that’s on them for being silly. The way the legendary is set up is dumb, but it’s not the cause of people having an utter lack of self-control or perspective.
It should of been a guaranteed drop for all Evokers due to the fact it’s attached to a quest especially one so integral to the Dracthyr Evoker story or at LEAST had extreme bad luck protection.
It should of either been rare drop or a quest not both you can’t have your cake and eat it.
This is me whenever I see it cause I want it and don’t have it.

…its like you saw the main point then sprinted right by it hahaha. The idea is that the only way to put effort towards getting the leggo is spam deleting characters
Hahaha if a evoker is so inclined to see the 30 second cut scene or the 5 minutes of content the Lego is YouTube it lol. Was not as “integral” and epic as you think.
Killing LfR sark isn’t work Neither is normal It’s a 457 legendary not some run of the mill purple.
There are as many ways to play this game as there are people playing this game. What you may be missing here is that some players are deeply invested in the role playing and lore aspects of the game. They are invested in their character having experiences and achievements. They want to unlock cutscenes for a continuous narrative experience themselves in-game. That’s a totally valid way to want to play the game.

I wouldn’t really say anything bad about someone that plays that way I just want the 10k dps increase I would get swapping to it, plus buffing other people multiple times a fight is cool.
I hate how it works, at the end of the expansion now, and been trying heroic since day one(And AOTC) Kinda takes the joy out of tthe game, Knowing that when the next expansion drops i wont have it, and itll become obsolete by the time DF raids can be soloed… Blizzard messed up with this one… Tied to dracthyr as it is, and The daily callouts… its like a middle finger to those who dont have it
I farmed it so many months on my alliance evoker and never saw it drop, I did LFR Sark on my horde evoker and it dropped on the third run, kind of bonkers, needless to say, my horde evoker became my main.
