Naming characters in the game!

Long story short I have TERRIBLE OCD! I’ve read numerous posts about this and haven’t been able to make myself feel better about it.
I have a very hard time nming my characters! I usually use a name generator because I like to have names that would fit with that race.
I make a toon and absolutely love the name …then after a few days I’ll see someone else with a name that sounds more appropriate and try to get the name I think suits the character I play.ive deleted way too many characters now I’ve been playing since 2011 and still haven’t learned to just chill and enjoy the game. If anyone has any tips or suggestions that could help I’d appreciate it.
I figure someone else has to be having the same issues

perhaps getting TRP may help since you can change your name on that on a whim, though your name will stay the same above your character.

your chosen TRP name will be the one showing in chats and when you mouse over your character profile. while it is only visible to you and others with the addon, it is a decent fix

The best names are puns.

Come up with your own system. I name all my characters after songs or albums. I used to be just like you and could barely even roll a character because I got stuck at the name portion, but once I started the music/album naming method it’s been a breeze.

The OP could follow your example and become Legendairy.

Lol Fugubar! That video really made my night

I would also recommend trp. I’m kind of ocd of names as well. Can’t have any alt codes and it must look like an alright name. I hated having this guy’s name as 1 word and I was able to separate it with that addon.

This is good advice. I use this sort of guideline for my characters:
Draenei / LF Draenei = Star names
Humans and Worgen = anything short and european. Norse is ok too.
Dwarf = something that emphasises a metal, fire, rock or weapon.
Gnomies = something complicated but slightly silly. Groucho Marx character names form the marx brothers movies are a good start.
Elfs = use Sindarin or Quenya, add -el / -iel for female, -an / -ion for male.

For Horde characters I would be looking at native american stuff for the Tauren, Tolkien’s black speech for the Orcs, German for the Goblins.

That’s not really a pun. Just Legendary spelled badly.

Tanuk is a great name. Tell us the others. I bet they’re awesome!

Have you tried the electric lettuce? it may help you relax and focus so you can enjoy the game. It does wonders for people with ocd and those that have trouble focusing.

I love Carbot lol.

I usually use random name.

I actually really like Carissaria and have even memorized how to spell her by now

This is what I do also, though I pick literary/theater characters. Remember, when you’re looking at other characters names and getting jealous, they might just be looking at yours and thinking it’s cool.

I’ve never heard of the addon, but sounds like that might solve your problems too, if you really need to keep changing.

It’s a combination of the words “legend,” “legion,” and “dairy.” Dairy, as in milk and cheese. Would fit a tauren demon hunter so, so well—too bad that’s never gonna happen.

Legiondairy!

I stand corrected! It’s rather fitting!

I have LITERALLY never related to a post so much in my life! This has happened to me too and I have played WoW on and off for years and years. I am extremely OCD with names too my tactic is (It’s a terrible one…) to sit and stare at the keys until I piece the perfect fantasy name together or hit the randomize button until I see a part of one of the names that is like a starter for my characters name. Hope it kind of helps you out
