Whenever I log out, my enemy nameplates reset from stacking to overlapping. It is not an addon issue: I disabled all my addons and it was still happening.
Are you using ElvUI Jeyo? I have seen reports of a nameplate issue with that addon. Disabling addons often doesn’t fix any issues they may be causing.
I am not. I’m using the default Blizzard nameplates.
Is this occurring on all your characters or only one?
All characters, whenever I relog or reset the UI.
Let’s reset the game settings saved server side.
Restart computer. Open the Battle.net Launcher - right click on Launcher icon. Select “Run as Administrator”. Look for the “Options” link underneath the Wow-Legion emblem. Open that select “Game Settings” click the “Reset In-Game Options” button.
Is this going to reset all my addon settings? Weakauras, etc?
It will reset keybinds and macros. Won’t touch WeakAuras. Can’t hurt to back the WTF folder up here though. Make a copy of it and save somewhere.
That didn’t do anything. Didn’t delete any macros, either.
Let’s try a standard UI reset as a test next. If it doesn’t help you can return to your original settings afterwards.
As I mentioned this is a test. If it doesn’t help simply remove the OLD from your original folders then delete the new folders the game installed. (This will return your original settings)

Hmm. The only thing we haven’t tried is a specific character reset. If it works you will need to run it on all characters. That will reset keybinds and macros.
To clear “Character” settings saved server side do this:
Open the Character Selection screen. (Don’t log character in)
Click the “Menu” button in lower left corner - select “System” - then at bottom of pane select “Reset User Options” - click “Okay”. Now log in to that character.
(You will need to follow this for each Character you wish to reset)

If the UI reset and reset users settings that Tratt offered did not help, this may be best on the bug report forums. We can take this a step further for now to be sure though.
First, type these commands in game.
/Console SET synchronizeConfig "0"
/Console SET synchronizeBindings "0"
/Console SET synchronizeSettings "0"
Once that is done, give the UI reset another go.
After that, type these in.
/Console SET synchronizeConfig "1"
/Console SET synchronizeBindings "1"
/Console SET synchronizeSettings "1"
This in short is resettings client based and server saved settings. Make sure to back up any addon setting you want to keep. When doing these steps, make sure to turn off programs like Twitch.

Neither of these solutions worked. Nameplates keep resetting to overlapping every time. I’m going to post this on the bug report forum.

I have the same issue and I’ve tried all the solutions suggested in this thread. Nameplates just keep resetting to overlapping on reload, relog, or zoning.
Having the exact same issue, also enabling enemy nameplates always show option will reset upon entering and leaving combat.
I’m having this issue but with Friendly nameplates
I am also having the resetting of overlapping happening every relog/reload UI. At the beginning of the expansion, I was having the issue that Omgitzademon was having, where enemy nameplates always show would reset. Not sure what changed.
