Does anyone have any solution to the nameplates overlapping? I set my nameplates to stacking, but when the tank pulls a big mob, like in fall, I find it hard to interrupt certain mobs. The nameplates just bounce and melt into each other. Also add the fact I need to heal and dodge. Ahhh!
I have had an issue for the last several years now when they all bunch up at the very top of the screen and I have to tilt my camera up just so I can separate them. I recently installed two things to try making it easier, and it has helped my issue a lot
- Plater
- Quazzi Plater Profile
Another thing, if you are ranged, standing in closer for some reason helps the nameplates not bunch up. Edit: I also reduced the distance I can see nameplates because they were taking up screen space as well, and cause the overlapping to be worse.
I don’t think there’s a definitive solution to this problem, but you can:
- Change the vertical distance between nameplates
- Make nameplates smaller
- Change the way nameplates clamp to the top by making them go offscreen (this way they won’t overlap but you also won’t see all of them)
You can achieve all of that by using a nameplate addon or messing with hidden configurations (download the addon called “AdvancedInterfaceOptions”)
As said above, the problem is that WoW always keeps nameplates on your screen.
When they hit the top of the screen… they just all bunch up.
If you’re tall (like a Tauren) it’s less of an issue than if you’re playing a Vulpera.
It’s a bigger problem with tall enemies, like Vrykul and Djaradin.
I’m not a plater enjoyer. I’ve heard this is a bigger issue there than elsewhere. I don’t really have too much of an issue with this using kui nameplates. I remember a time during last season when people had this discussion due to brackenhide pulls on the competitive subreddit. I believe this was in the context of plater, fwiw. They were somehow going in the settings and removing nameplates for certain mobs.
I also installed this recently and its amazing. Super helpful.
Lets not forget the name plates from the next room, the floor below and all the extra ones for explosive.
i don’t even mind having a bunch of nameplates on the screen, but it drives me nuts when they’re constantly wiggling around to the point i can’t actually click on or mouseover the one i actually want
I never find it too difficult to click on enemies. It’s mainly when they’re moving it becomes very annoying.
Nameplates are actually a disaster in M+ and have been for years. This is the case no matter what addons you use because addons cannot fix Blizzard’s horrible “clickable area” limitations without breaking the rules. There used to be an amazing addon called EnemyGrid that made it actually enjoyable to select your enemy (from a clean, easy to see grid, just like raid frames) but Blizzard broke that for absolutely no reason whatsoever.
Now we all have to deal with gross nameplates moving around all the time which makes us mouse over the wrong guy, target the wrong guy, and waste interrupts/cc or double up pandemic-ineligible dots on the wrong guy (which is why it’s now standard to use focus targets to interrupt focus mobs by the way)
I agree that Quazii’s plater profile is the best option for M+ right now and do recommend that. There is still the same problem though and like I said that’s none of Quazii’s fault.
You can mitigate it with finely tuned plater profiles but it will always be chaos.
Unironically high keys turn wow into a literal FPS and I consider it as such.
Mastering accurate mouseover is a a painful skill.
I’m sure people have given the addon options that don’t allow nameplates to overlap.
My goto since like 2010 has been Tidy Plates because it is just that, Tidy, low resources, no fuss out of the box, etc.
It has a few “themes” for style, but most importantly to you, there’s a toggle to not allow plates to overlap, or can have them stack on top of each other xD
