I was trying to not use so many weakauras in Classic but Blizz did this. I will have to use the weakaura HUDs to show my Target timers.

Definitely unrealistic to have such a short draw distance on nameplates…especially for dot classes

The fact that so many seem geniunely disabled by a lack of nameplates is hilarious to me for some reason.

I don’t remember not being able to see nameplates at range during Vanilla. I have been really flummoxed by it because I was a mage then–priest now.

I never had to stand practically in the melee pit to see nameplates for interrupts and nameplate health bars.

Now that I’m a healer and dispeller, it’s even worse. I can’t see the nameplates to monitor my DoTs unless I’m standing so close that I increase my threat (we experimented, and that was why I was pulling so much threat as a priest…I was too close–so that I could see nameplates).

I cannot understand why this is set the way it is. 20 yards? Really? When we get into BGs, it’s gonna be even more game-breaking.

So…okay, if this is part of the game, then fine. I accept it. But seriously, how am I supposed to use Dispel Magic on enemies without being able to see the buffs I’m supposed to dispel, and how am I supposed to monitor dots if I can’t see the nameplates?

This is an honest question: How is it done without the nameplates? What is the appropriate Vanilla tool to use? As a mage in Vanilla, I could be mis-remembering nameplates at range. Fine. As a priest in Classic, I have no idea how to do parts of my job if I can’t see nameplates…which I never will if I’m standing back at 30-40 yards like I’m supposed to. So, what is the correct way to do my job?

You’re melee. It doesn’t affect you.

sucks that it has to end here, was actually having a good time playing classic but the fun police (blizzard) finds a way to ruin everything. If this doesn’t affect you and you think it’s not a big deal, just wait, blizzard will find something to ruin your experience too, they always do.

it’s irritating they are taking such a hard stance on this problem when they willfully neglect so many other issues.

As a hunter this was a saving grace to make sure I was at least hitting the right targets when multiple targets were up.

seriously Blizz doesn’t cracking down on the real problems that many classes face that are very clearly not vanilla yet they take this away? Screw them, no wonder BFA is a train wreck.

Classic team, please don’t make the same mistakes the retail team has… please.

I don’t care about whether or not this is for pvp. Leave other players’ nameplates at 20 yards, that’s fine, and I agree, it makes pvp more balanced for ambushes, etc. But give us NPC nameplates at 40 yards! I KNOW YOU CAN DO IT, BLIZZARD, because we get to check or uncheck Enemy Players vs NPC Names in the Interface > Names menu. I CANNOT SEE MY ENEMIES AT ANY REASONABLE DISTANCE UNTIL THEY’RE ALREADY KILLING ME AS A MAGE.
