Can anyone suggest a simple add-on that allows you to display buffs on your character nameplate instead of the far righthand corner of the screen?
You are asking for two separate things. But moveanything allows you to move the buff/debuff region of the UI to another portion of your screen. And addons like plater/threatplates allow you to more easily adjust which buffs/debuffs you see on nameplates.

Plater is more involved so use threatplates and then turn stuff on the nameplates you want to watch (like for example arena).

If you want simple, there’s KUI Nameplates. If you want more thorough, customizable, and more personable, Plater Nameplates.

KUI nameplates are fantastic and I def prefer them to Plater or Tidyplates now. Unless you need a huge amount of graular customization, KUI is great.
To the point about your buffs, your unit frames addon can do that, and like someone said, moveanything will do that, but I am still having some oddities with MA, like not being able to accept multiple quests from the same NPC without closing and opening the window again.
Oh yeah, I’m not knocking it. KUI is great out of the box. Plater is more thorough though in my experience involving what you can do, and the Details integration, but that’s neither here nor there. KUI’s a great addon.
