Name Sellers?

I are sure? I have some moderately priced names on Moon Guard. Only slightly used.

I really doubt it. Social media has existed the whole time WoW has existed. The only people I’ve seen talk about it were players wanting to know if it’s allowed or not. Someone bragging, especially on social media, that they paid gold for a specific name in WoW would just have people laugh at them.

This could be easily solved for
by allowing us surnames.
It’s actually kind of primitive
that we are not allowed surnames.
Alternatively, if they cannot afford the
space…
Ah…nevermind…It’s pointless…They do
what they want to do…which is why they’re
not getting much of my money these days.

Name sellers be making bank on RP realms, I can tell you that.

I have one account with 28 characters on it that I personally play, as they’re all level 70 now, with one at level 22 that I just started leveling and two at 80.

Whatever “inside info” you think you have… you don’t. LOL This just makes you sound childish.

I got this name in cata and was surprised it wasn’t taken

I’ve had this name since BfA and I’ve never had a single person contact me about it at all

All I did to get it was just go down the list of the most populated servers and find a server it wasn’t taken on :dracthyr_shrug:

Just like your name, people take it just to take it, and never play it in game

The reason I said that with uncertainty is because I’m not sure if you are or not. I know of a Sen that sells names, I believe on Mal’Ganis

It’s definitely not lol

I know Sendryn and they don’t really do that sort of thing
Selling a BoE or some mats on the AH is likely the extent of selling that goes on by Sendryn.

I’ve literally never encountered it being a scam or heard anyone complain about it.
It’s kind of a scummy practice and as you mentioned it’s an unsupported transaction so if someone IS scamming Blizzard won’t help you, but realistically it’s just a fairly easy way for people to make some gold by doing nothing but making a bunch of alts whenever a name purge happens.

I find that hard to believe that someone would sell names.
I guess it’s possible but doesn’t make much sense to me.

That said, I always wanted the name “AAAARRGGHHH!” but Blizzard said no.

There haven’t been name purges for many years now. They stopped doing them soon after they started.

Instead, they automated the system so that when you create anew character and you choose a name that may already be in use on a server, it looks to see if that specific name now meets the requirements to release it.

If it does, the name is given to you. If it doesn’t, you’re told it’s in use.

The system looks to see if the battle.net account that the name is on, has been active at all (any battle.net game use) in the time of the past two expansions.

So, it really doesn’t take much to keep a name in WoW.

The only other thing I’ll add to this thread, is that Blizzard is definitely cracking down on receiving illicit gold, even if by accident. So selling such names, now comes with great risk too.

Buyer beware.

i have a few names that i made up for future characters. then i saw others selling names. i figured it must be ok so i tried but i dont think anyone liked my names lol! I dont play ah so i was hoping to get a little extra so i can afford my warband bank tabs! Anyhow i never made my extra names with intent to sell, im sure there are others such as myself.

I will admit i have 4 accounts so i have lots of names out there. Most are over 30 though which i think would fall under the 30 day cd!

I honestly didn’t think of this angle. Gonna make sure I don’t trade with anyone below level 80.
