I don’t see why Blizzard doesn’t enable name release for Classic (They stated it will never happen) like how it is in Retail, if the account is inactive for 2 expansions the names should be released.
Would give hope to us who had to move servers due to them being closed / dying.
I spoke with a GM in TBC (it’s been a while, take this with a grain of salt) regarding names, and was advised then that if an account is inactive for 2 expansions then the names are released, they can no longer do it manually.
If that holds true, then Cataclysm release should open up any names on accounts that have not been active since vanilla classic. Who knows.
Yeah i had a conversation with a GM but the way they responded - “In Classic and Wrath Classic, once a name is taken it’s taken, there is no release of names due to inactivity there unfortunately.”
That very well may be the case. Which is unfortunate considering how they want to pile the entire population onto just a few long-established servers with practically zero name availability.
