So, I’ve noticed something odd over the last month or so. If I get a quest and it’s just to kill x amount of mobs, a name plate will be displayed over the mob. However, if the quest is to loot something from the mobs, the name plate is not displaying. I’ve got all the settings for name plates turned on. I have tried disabling all addons but that doesn’t seem to fix the issue. The post below may explain the issue better than I can:
I had a problem like this in the past where certain quests weren’t being tracked.I had to manually check the tracking box in the quest log and eventually I think I did a /reload which fixed it.Not sure if this will help but worth a try.
Thanks. I’ll give it a try after work.
I’d also recommend deleting your cache folder.
They aren’t being very diligent in fixing little bugs and glitches in this expansion as they usually are.
You said you disabled them, but this definitely sounds like an addon issue.
I think something similar was happening to me when I had an addon that changed the nameplate appearance (or added something to them) of quest mobs.
Make sure Nameplates Always Shown is enabled.
With this turned on, will the name plate only display when the mob is part of a quest or when the mob is selected?
All hostile nameplates will be displayed at all times. There’s no conditions.
Hmmm. I don’t want the name plates displayed at all times. I just want them displayed when the mob is part of quest or I have them selected.
I could have sworn that’s what it did as of a few months ago.
Oh. I assumed you had nameplates always visible, but being flagged as a quest mob made them go away…
I don’t know if the functionality you’re looking for is part of the default nameplates, since I play with the always visible option.
It does. But I think that’s part of the ctrl-V command.
