Name changed character lost forum history

Upon Dracthyr classes expanding from just evoker, I race changed this character (from Pandaren to Dracthyr) as well as changed the name (from Scaramouche to Jay) – at some point I got logged out of the forums, and when I logging back in, it only showed my battlenet name and ID number and didn’t recognize that I already had an active sub.

So I logged out of the forums and left it for a day. I just now logged back in and thankfully the forums have recognized my battlenet account again, but this character that I race/name changed has had their forum history wiped completely (as well as saying that I’m a “just joined” user when my character with the previous name (which can still be viewed on the forums) was 2023).

This character is the only one I use on the forums, since they’re my main; I really don’t want to lose my entire posting history and have to start building up my forum trust level again :expressionless:

You can create a character of the original name on the original server and level it up to 10 and that character will “claim” the posting history and trust level.

There’s really no fixing it because the forum system is a combination of a 3rd party forum engine (Discourse) and Blizzard’s hacks to allow characters as the posting entities, instead of individual players (by Battletag).

So the “character” that owns posting history is just the string “Character name-Server”, and doesn’t follow the actual character (what WoW’s servers know to be the character) if you change name or server.
