You can actually do it now by deleting your character, making a level 1 character with the name and doing character restore.
Also, you can likely do it by reserving the name or creating a character with the name on the TBC realm you’re going to before you copy that one (assuming it isn’t a forced auto roll over).
Doesn’t work with level 60s. I think after level 35 the name is “reserved” for 30 days
Ah okay, I just recently did it on an alt but he was only in his 30s. Good to know.
They must have changed that recently. I just tried it with a level 11 and I got a pop up that said “you already have a character with name. The character can’t be restored at this time.”
And months of waiting. I want that $15 thing for Classic.
Oh damn, they must have then. I bet people were starting to abuse the hell out of it.
You have to delete it for 30 days and then someone on a different battlenet account needs to make a character, and enter the world, with the same name. You can not do this totally by yourself. A guildie could do it but that’s 30 days off. That is the quickest way since transfers have a 90 day cooldown.
If you try to do it on your own account you will get that error.
Yep that delete / restore method has been fixed a year ago. It worked up until november 19 if I remember correctly.
This hasn’t worked for months, if not a year. I used to do this all the time.
My wife literally JUST did it last month. You just need to do it right.
