Will names change become available on classic. A guild mate and myself have similar names, which makes raid call outs confusing. No, I do not want to start a new character, that would put me behind. No, I do not want to go to another server, I like my guild and the people I have meet and play with regularly.

Changing name is like changing server for money. It should not exist in vanilla. Vanilla is about community and xfering for money or changing names for money is exactly against it.

I believe you can actually change your name in Classic already, with the help of a friend/guildie:
- Delete your character;
- Have a friend make a character with your name;
- Restore your character.
You should be prompted to choose a new name.
Disclaimer: I haven’t actually done this, so I cannot vouch for this method to work; I was only told it does.

Oops! This is not a personalized custom game. “What one player wants” is not a design rule here.
I don’t think this works. I think when you delete a character you still “own” the name for some time (months). You can make a new character with that name, but your friend cannot.
Could you get a bunch of people to report your name as offensive?
This CAN work if you have enough people do it, but I’m not aware of the threshold or if there’s a period of time it has to be done in.

Yes but its unknown how many people actually triggers an auto-ban , 50 ? 100? I would say atleast fifty people need to report your name in a day or two span , that way only the really offensive names get swept away.
