with elvish having one of the most fleshed out naming schemes (since Tolkien did so much work here it can be viewed as standard really), yeah, that random name is more miss than hit really.
Here enters fun debates of if Tolkien is “canon” or what if I desired to name elves like Warhammer elves or even 40k eldar (who are also elves under a different name).
And those were names listed for a female Gnome (assuming the name generator checks your race if not your gender). A few decent ones, but most were “wagh! begone from this place!”
A problem which has been around since TBC, and it’s not going to go away, ever. Years ago I too reported the bad names, now I shrug and only report offensive names if they bother me personally. Which doesn’t happen often. C’est La vie.
If they bother you turn off nameplates. That way you don’t see their name unless you target them.
What are the names even? I’d like some examples if only to try and see your point.
I mean if they’re going around naming themselves “Hitler” or something, maybe I could understand. Still not worth a “permaban” on name choice though. Maybe make them use the generator on that one character if they’re a regular offender and then pay for a regular name change if you want it that bad. I still think that is extreme, but that’s as middle ground as I can make it lol.
I mean, I reported (tried to) a Classic guild name for an implied rape joke (“Sapped Girls Cant Say No”), but that was because it could be a harmful message to children and is extremely insensitive to women.
I guess the moral is you have the power to make reports, but use them wisely. If Blizzard keeps tallies and sees that you report every “Betty Lou” out there, they may not take your cases seriously.
Ok I laughed. You should make sure that the people you are reporting are not in a crz zone with you for one. And some of those folks you are going off on just might be friends with someone that just happens to play on your realm, and were invited over to help them, do some quests together. And before you say well the person on the other realm should of did the inviting you should realize that, if the person who does the inviting happens to be a higher level then that’s the realm you go to. Unless that has been fixed in the last year, or two.
I said at the time I was unaware of the naming rules.
I also said at the time I was excited about learning to RP.
Then I said once I realised there were rules about names, I moved to RP based names.
Then I said the attitude of RPers to people new to the community and people who don’t RP drove me away from it. Evidence: your snarky reply to my post.
Sounds like you need to leave these “Roleplay” servers if all you do is cry about and report names for “hours”. Like really. Very definition of a no life scum.
