Nails on Chalkboard

Well, it’s not an achievement I’ll ever get because I’d rather listen to my own nails being dragged across a chalkboard than run keys.

I honestly thought this thread was going to ask why people find the noise of nails scratching chalkboards annoying.

PS: I got KSM!

Agree. It’s how people talk about it. If you are just happy / excited you finally got a hard to get achievement or you conquered any content in game that’s considered challenging by most…I’ll congrats and cheer for you. That’s part of having fun with a game right?

The flip side though if you brag and throw it people’s faces and you work it into insults against others “you are terrible you probably can even get (achievement) …”

Then you are a loser because it’s a computer game for crying out loud.

Thanks.

The thing is, this is not a “personal” achievement (Green Fire was a personal achievement – mano a mano). Here you have to not just build up your character, manage the base mechanics of playing the character and gearing and all that. But you also have to manage the social and group dynamic of the game.

If you have a solid guild or posse or whatever, this, like all group content, is much easier. It’s “just a matter of doing it”.

PUG life adds an entirely different layer of complexity to the task.

As I mentioned it took me 4 runs to get the last, single point for the achieve. And, to be blunt, those failures weren’t, solely, my fault. The group failed, or broke up, or whatever happened, but I did my job.

What was my fault was I didn’t join the right groups. I didn’t form my own, vett the complete strangers, have them go into the exact details of their core competency, their off the chart mad deeps skillz, their patience for idiocy, where their cat is to ensure it doesn’t walk across the keyboard and DC them from the game just after the pull of the final boss (that NEVER happens), etc.

But we all know how soul crushing exhausting that is. “Just want to play the game, just want a smooth run.” Don’t we all, yet, that doesn’t always happen.

So, anyway, a shout out to all of the other faceless painted toons that helped me reach this goal this season. Your participation and performances were appreciated.

And to the tank that dropped right at the last boss? Well, I can’t say anything about that here.

Did this happen once? Cause i’m not seeing that around here

Do go on.

Anyone who brags about anything in this video game should immediately get a follow up question, “so how’s the family/friends/job?”

There is a difference between understanding why people are proud of the goals they have attained, and the ignorance of others.

as i read your post, i was reading it as someone who may just not have liked people over flaunting their success or achievements and maybe even belittling others if they don’t have the same.

But now i see that this is more of a hate, spiteful, jealous reaction to someone making progress on content that others find challenging.

The amount of coordination needing to go into that IO range is beyond anything most Pugs could even imagine, so yes, it’s quite a staggering feat to accomplish.

But it is about skill and gameplay awareness, its not called “pushing keys” if it were so easy to do. Maybe if your experience is anything below a 14-15 key, but once you start getting into the 19’s+ the gameplay gets more chaotic and harder, little mistakes could mean the wiping of the group or an untimed key.

This comment really shows the ignorance behind the post entirely.

There should be an additional achievement when one gets KSM and KSH strictly thru pugging

The nails on a chalkboard call up a racial memory of the time when we were prey for giant predators, the Sabre Tooth, the Dire Wolves and Bears, the Short Nosed Bears and many others. The sound takes us back to sound of predators teeth grinding on our bones as they consumed us before dying.

‘negative’…‘positive’…
unless we’re talking
electrical connections…
it’s all relative.

how about an achievement for making it through
4 hours on the forum without getting suspended?

What a petty thing to complain about. Are people constantly harassing you throughout the day about this? Sounds like a personal issue.

lighten up…humor is our friend…
relax…all will be well.

Agreed! The OP shouldn’t let something like that bother him.

if a guy brags about running a 15 minute mile, are you the kind of person to **** on that too?

Accomplishments are relative, you don’t like being mean, but you can’t help it?

Find better things to do.

Already have that one

yeah…most people can walk a mile in 15 minutes.

Is there an achievement for your legs going numb while reading the forums on a toilet?

(Collapses as getting up from toilet with numb legs)

Oh, I hated running in the army. Would always max out my push-ups and my setups onmy PT test

But the fastest I ran two miles in was 12 min not bad

KSM isn’t a notable achievement, you simply only need to play the game a little bit to get it.
