[N-RP] The Order of the Pyre (Non-Traditional Holy/Knight RP)

The Poor Hospitallers of the Ashen Martyr and the Pyre, mainly known as the Order of the Pyre or, simply, the Hospitallers, is an autonomous religious order present in the northernmost provinces of the Eastern Kingdoms. Though often likened to the Scarlet Crusade given the fervor with which they embrace their faith, the two sects promulgate disparate ideologies, with the latter bereft of any notion of nationalism or militarism.

Induction into the Hospitallers is a rare and covert affair, with the identities of its members shrouded in utmost confidentiality. This veil of secrecy has led to a dearth of public knowledge about their purpose and cause, sparking speculation that the enigmatic order might not even exist at all.

To emphasize the clandestine nature with which the Hospitallers conduct themselves and, further, to prevent any attempts at meta-gaming, information concerning the sect is purposely vague. Interested parties are encouraged to seek out Cryptid [@ Urn-Moon Guard &/or cryptidmakes (Discord)] to discuss specifics.

PYRE is a high-stakes, immersive role-playing community that is hosted on the US-Moon Guard server within World of Warcraft. Created by players with a passion for writing villains, we endeavor to curate a healthy space to develop realistic, complex antagonists who needn't worry about forced redemption.

You will find that the following applies to our guild:
  • We do not accept members that are under the age of eighteen.
  • We take a zero tolerance stance against racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, harassment, and other forms of bigoted and disrespectful conduct exhibited at an out-of-character level.
  • Pyre’s overarching narrative is designed to explore internal conflict related to religion, trauma, grief, and other unsavory themes— the gamut of which is intentionally structured to reflect realistic, lived experiences in such a way that it may cause mental or emotional distress.
  • We are not affiliated with any community project, such as the Stormwind Law Project, the Stormwind Crown Administration, the Eternal Court of Lordaeron, Warcraft Conquest, et cetera.

PLEASE NOTE: We do not subscribe to the assumption that an individual is a ‘good person’ just because we have had decent interactions with them. Experiences matter; a person’s behavior behind closed doors is of paramount importance. Thus, should someone’s character be brought into question due to evidence of insensitive behavior that occurs outside of our purview (i.e., in direct messages, group chats, or otherwise), we will take immediate action. Role-play will never be so important that we overlook a person’s actions to preserve it.

Your guild sounds pretty cool! I wish you all the best on this server. Alot of folks don’t like villains who use the Light, but, maybe you can find a way around that.

Thank you for the kind words! The vote of confidence is sincerely appreciated.

Given the history of the server and the lore itself, it makes total sense as to why anyone might treat a Light-worshipping villain with a heavy dose of caution and scrutiny. Nonetheless, we hope to avoid the mistakes of our predecessors and, in doing so, promote a safer atmosphere in which to explore the nature of the villain and the long-term consequences of their actions.

Thank you to everyone who has reached out thus far! We truly appreciate the support and well wishes as we get settled in. I’d also like to extend a special thank you, too, to our members who have taken to writing lore for the Order of the Pyre! I wouldn’t be able to do all this without you guys. :heart:

Hi there! I took a look at the application forms since I have been looking for a guild for my character (not this one, forums won’t let me switch somehow lol) Some of the questions I find difficult to answer, for example the reason why she might want to join it. Since the OP says “This veil of secrecy has led to a dearth of public knowledge about their purpose and cause,” it would be hard to explain how any of her ideals might align with their purpose. Perhaps I am overthinking it and should give you a nudge in-game lol

I know this thread is falling into obscurity but I play a traditional Holy Inquisitor and would love to get involved as an antagonist to the antagonists so to speak :stuck_out_tongue:
