(Mythic) Zskarn mechanics have unnecessary RNG + exploit fixes before hof closed feels unfair

Dear Blizzard,

I raid in a 2-day guild. We unfortunately did not kill Rashok in time to take advantage of a very well known exploit that allowed guilds to skip Zskarn mechanics. All top 300 US guilds were aware and were racing to abuse it and extend. Now we are progging the fight with full blown mechanics and it feels unfair from a competitive standpoint. It feels like we are penalized because we didn’t raid enough or pull overtime to take advantage of the exploit. Then the boss gets “buffed” by the exploit taken away which makes our team play the boss with RNG traps, full mechanics which sets us back many ranks while others get to prog echo without reprogging zskarn in its intended form. Either take the “L” and allow others to abuse the exploit that all guilds in “hall of fame” territory abused or make the fight predictable. This is bllsht.

you get to experience the fight as intended. Isn’t that what raiding on maximum difficulty is all about?

Everyone knows WoW is about getting content done asap so you can unsub because you don’t actually enjoy the game just the act of finishing it.

It’s not so much that we weren’t able to take advantage of an exploit more-so than blizzard not realizing that they were inadvertently punishing guilds who were progressing at a normal pace and allowing guilds who participated in the exploit to continue onward without having to progress the boss as intended.

This mainly targeted 2x day guilds who are normally just as competitive but were 1 day behind “exploit-gate”.

It’s completely messed up imo. Simply put they should have reset all the lockouts, or just leave the boss as is and take the L.

I think you might be picking a different point to make an argument on. I agree with you. I want to experience it at the maximum difficulty! I am talking from a competition standpoint. I want a high quality raid. I want a hard encounter. I just want the same grounds to compete on.

I think they should disable extending in the future until HOF closes.

Interesting idea!!

That is a fantastic idea! They should do this for this coming reset so that everyone that used the exploit are forced to have to prog the fight as it was meant to be experienced!

That’s an interesting opinion. Thanks for the free bump

My guild had a bunch of low wipes on this dumb boss so I was searching for posts on people’s experiences with it and saw Side Project and was like yeah they know what’s up.

Side Project… I know that guild  (Hi!)

Upvote this!

A famous wow player once said “exploit early, exploit often.”

Thus the Zskarn cheese is no more =(

Maybe blizz will fix the fight? :face_with_spiral_eyes:

3% wipe - damn! y’all have the fight down. Just have to get a lucky pull

NGL, if a boss requires a lucky pull to beat, it’s bad design.

There couldn’t be a more accurate statement that defines this encounter.

I mean let’s just hit the lottery! What are the odds on the Powerball? 1 in 4 billion? Never tell me the odds!

extending forever shouldnt be allowed. one or two extensions per ID max.

This just massively favours guilds who raid more and utterly nukes the ability for 2-3 day guilds to even attempt HoF.

Honestly, this deal sucks. The guilds that got in under the wire to get through this boss with the cheese strat got to ride off into the sunset without having to actually beat the boss as intended. They should have made this change on a maintenance day and reset lock outs to put everyone on an even playing field when they did it. Instead, you had literally no guilds that killed it without cheesing it extending and never seeing it again, so that guilds that had less raid time or a more difficult go at the previous bosses are now hard time gated by a boss with poorly designed mechanics that potentially require you to hit the RNG lottery to be able to move on to the next boss, that’s a dozen pull joke. Doesn’t feel very fair for those of us that just have a shorter raiding schedule and weren’t able to exploit the boss the way the others around us did. Not sure how that decision was made in good conscience.

Agreed. It’s also weird in general some of the best guilds in the world got to use the cheese strat and no one cared and then they fixed it in general for everyone else. So you have people with ranks that maybe wouldn’t be nearly as earned if they’d never extended or not cheesed the boss at all.

Like, rekilling Rashok was no fun but Zskarn just feels like a walking on literal minefields boss. I do hope they adjust it bc the average CE team is 2 nights and will be stuck on this for longer than necessary.

We usually never extend so I’m not sure what our guilds play will be once this dies.
