Mythic + What's the point?

So I came back to the bfa season 2 hamster wheel 2 weeks ago, quit since 1 month after bfa launch. I see that nothing has changed.

What am I even doing, I’d like to progress my character but what for? Not interested in pushing m+ / raiding / arena atm and I already got an useless item from M+ chest last week. What am I even getting gear for? Just for all of it be become obsolete next season.

I had fun pressing my abilities and doing my rotation on mobs that’s about it.

I wish there was some sort of solo content/challenges. Or just like seasonal cosmetics you could go for. Maybe even just recolor the dungeon sets every season.

This seems like a case of you not liking wow. Gearing up is leveling 2.0, then you push your ability to play. At 403, I’m pretty much done seeking items completely (yes I need 400 trinket and pants to be truly done), I just try to do every harder content. Failed a bunch of keys this week for various reasons, but that’s the fun for me.

If your at the point where your asking “whats the point in playing games” than the answer is for your enjoyment. IF that answer no longer applies to you than simply take a break or stop completely.

if you want solo content that rewards cosmetics than go transmog farming from earlier expac raids/dungeons.

Outside of rare instances like the mage tower, WoW is an MMO. It’s not really geared towards solo players. You whole post suggests that you basically just don’t like WoW in general.

Just face it. You don’t like playing the WoW gearing game. It’s okay. No one will care.

It’s still worth doing 10+ for forges. Got a few 410s and one 420 that way. Really the only option for gear upgrades if you don’t raid mythic.

I don’t play this game as a collection or gambling simulator. I run 10+ because it’s fun. If something drops, so be it. I wish I was done gearing in a week so I can move on testing how well I can play.

Fair point. Just answering the question.

One point of Mythic plus is that it’s a potential source of gear higher than 400 Ilvl that isn’t raiding.

Edit:

Ilvl is still important for getting into mythic plus PUGs. There’s enough 400 folks now that having 404, 405, etc can be the difference between acceptance and rejection.

Now you are supposed to gank lowbs in their starting zones. DURRR!

Outside of raiding, it’s the only thing I enjoy in this game. Couldn’t care less if I don’t get any gear on any of it, it’s just a fun thing to do with 4 friends.

Now if I didn’t have people to run them with, and had to pug, I’d probably be asking the same question as you.

MYTHIC + WHAT’S THE POINT?

It’s blizzards attempt at an esport. So you have teams competing to have the highest key and best times.

For the rest of us who don’t really care, there really is no point, it’s not for us.

sounds like OP is having a midlife crisis…

I like doing m+ because it’s fun. It’s easy to get a group going, doesn’t require much setup like raid guilds and DKP etc, it’s small scale and therefore sort of more intimate. And it’s repeatable, affixes change each week etc, unlike raids. It has its share of problems like anything else, mostly balance, but nothing’s perfect.

The gear just sort of comes along the way.

this…
honestly speaking…its a lazy way of introducing fun…
Will prefer they add more dungeons with different mechanics instead of playing the same dungeons…

The dungeons this xpac got old… fast
id really prefer them to make something like Maw of Souls with easy trash and difficult bosses on tyrannical +10-15
first boss? tank better know how to play
last boss? entire group needs to be smart.
but it only took 20 minutes max. more engaging

Js how do you feel about them not nerfing content? I am a bad and I would rather that than what goes on right now. Also bringing back attunement would be good. This M+ stuff is nice as it gives people more of a challenge but they wouldn’t need it as much if they just stopped nerfing stuff. I am even talking about not nerfing dungeons. As for one of your last recommendation you talk about solo content well that is what we call questing and Blizzard really could make that more important and have it be a challnge and get people into the open world more but then many of you from long ago or now complain about questing. An mmorpg should have people working together much more than what goes on now. As for recoloring dungeons … Wut??? As for seasonal stuff they have it already.

I came back to WoW late in legion after a 9 year hiatus. If it wasn’t for m+, I think I would have quit a month after I resubbed. I agree with other people’s sentiments OP, maybe you just need an extended break from the game.

Brawler’s Guild is coming back soon.

One dungeon per week to have the gear to be useful as a substitute if my guild happens to need a raid healer when I happen to have an evening free. They like me and let me stay as a friend even though my schedule changed. Doing more than one isn’t really necessary because the few slots that don’t need a titanforge for an upgrade from mythic+10 and ablove are worth grinding over.

And then… I play with my battle pets and run old raids for shiny transmog.

Same here. Came back from Wrath to Argus and rolled a holy paly. Loved M+ since then and it’s still the main thing keeping me playing. I even play this alt! If they gutted M+ I wouldn’t hang around long.
