Mythic + Timer Question

So it used to be that the faster you did a run, the more chests you had the potential to get correct? So with the changes and no extra chests, the only point of Mythic+ is to just complete it correct? So the only thing you need to pay attention to the timer is if you wanna increase your key right?

I am just to really understand it myself. Cause I still have people leaving after a few deaths in runs saying key is ruined etc. But my understanding is it is only really about completing the run now.

the key upgrade is still impacted by how much you timed it.

You get an extra piece of loot in the chest if you complete the dungeon within the timer. You also get your key upgraded rather than downgraded.
