Mythic +s and anxiety

I’ve been playing this game since 2008. So off an on for 12 years, I used to love running dungeons to gear up my new character so I can start raiding.

When mythic +s were introduced i used to run them on my off days of raiding. Now… my raid leader is requiring us to gear up in mythic +s so it will make it easier to down bosses. Thing about mythic +s… the margin of error is small and you have to beat the timer or you cause whoever s key it is to downgrade. I don’t know about y’all but I feel bad if I am part of the reason we couldn’t beat the timer.

I thought mythic+s were an alternative to raiding? What happened that would cause mythic +s to become a requirement to start raiding? I would be happy if I never have to touch mythic+s ever again. At the start of Shadowlands my raid leader is requiring us to gear up in mythic +s before we start raiding.

Running at least a weekly +10 / 15 on every character you plan to raid with has been required by remotely serious guilds since its inception. Seems your guild is now requiring it and im afraid that if you dont want to do it, it may be time for you to part ways.

I believe m+ will be much less effective in SL with the reduced loot. Last I heard it was 1 piece per dungeon for the whole group. Dont quote me on that though.

Unless you’re in a serious Mythic prog guild its kinda silly.

But seriously M+ isn’t that bad, unless you’re pushing high keys its not any different than a regular dungeon run.

If its for gear, the timer doesn’t matter much in this case. I’d chill with your group on Discord and have a good time. Laugh at the wipes if they happen and keep playing. And nowadays the timer is very forgiving even at a 15, especially for mythic raiders.

For many, it can be a bit of a learning curve. I used to be extremely frustrated whenever my keys got downgraded because of the silly mistakes of others but it took me a while to realize that if you’re serious enough about getting better, you need to treat every mistake of yours as a personal hurdle. Learn from it, remember it, and don’t repeat it.

The same goes for a lot of players. It takes experience and mistakes for average people like me to get better at something and that’s completely alright. As long as you’re using the key to learn from your mistakes, it’s not entirely wasted.

Might be time to either leave the guild or find a community that does raiding without mythic + progression as a requirement.

Honestly I prefer to progress my characters via pvp, more enjoyable in my opinion.

Keys aren’t so bad. The timer isn’t there to be particularly difficult to beat, not like in say, Gold CM’s back in MoP or WoD, it’s more like the enrage timer on a boss like Carapace.

Sure it technically exists, but you’re never going to have to worry about it if you execute the dungeon correctly.

But if it makes you feel any better, with how they’re changing the weekly chest in Shadowlands, you won’t technically have to do M+ for your weekly item.

If you feel you are the reason the you probably are. My Advice is to tell your raid leader you are not running mythic + , your character your choice. If you lose a raiding spot over this then they were never the right fit for you.

My guild considers mythic + optional during raid progression. Groups run it but others dont have the time. Still clear raids fine.

I used to enjoy heroic dungeons in wotlk and to a lesser extent in cata.

But all these affixes on top of the mobs abilities is hard for me to keep track of, it certainly isn’t content I enjoy and the timer doesn’t help.

I worry these are merely added in as a means of pushing WoW E sports and I hope this trend doesn’t continue.

It’ll be less attractive for farming constantly. Right now you can sit there and do these back-to-back and gear up on 465+ stuff at the higher keys even if you fail run. On retail its the easiest way to solo gear up quickly. Most of my gear is from mythic 12-15 runs now. You can get the same iLvl stuff from doing heroic NZ.

I started off at like Mythic +4 and I’m doing mostly +13-15s now. Brought my io from 0 to 1600 in 2 weeks. Some runs you don’t hit timed, others you do. Just the nature of the game. Mythic+ dungeons are just higher difficulty dungeons.

Regular dungeons are faceroll easy and can’t even compare.

This isn’t always the case so don’t worry, if you feel like you did something wrong, ask someone you trust in the run to give you some feedback on how you perfrormed, I used to have a lot of anxiety on pvp until I met a guy who would just give me feedback about what I did right and what I did wrong in arenas, same deal with mythic dungeons since I started pushing higher keys with him
it helped me A LOT, I still feel like I am the problem in raids and I can’t find a guild where I can make some friends, but that’s a whole different thing :stuck_out_tongue:

They’re not a requirement. You’ve already answered your question:

At the start of the new expansion EVERYONE will be figuring out the new dungeons and failing at it… I can remember failing +2’s… and like the poster below you said, if your RL is just requiring M+ that really isn’t anything new. Also what is his key level expectation? I mean it isn’t like we’re going to be geared to even push +15’s (maybe I guess, but not immediately)…

Just take a breath, relax and try to enjoy it.

+5s and 6s. Constant farming to get geared up before castle nathrea hits. We wont be doing normal at all. Heroic progression at the start.

I don’t like M+ and I’m not doing it again, no matter what the GM (me) says.

Plus, the weekly loot box will be just as good if you enjoy raiding or PvP! Pretty cool :sunglasses:

Listen to Mythic Plus people and they advocate go to raiding if you hate timers/ mythic plus. What they don’t understand is that the raiding environment is pushing us onto their territory.

I would recommend just running with guildies. If you miss the timer who cares, you’re just having a good time with your boys. If you have a guy in there losing his mind about missing the timer at the beginning of the xpac in a +10 then just replace him, sounds like a real dweeb anyways.

is this like, the norm now? I’ve been looking for guilds that want to start at normal and progress through there and I haven’t found any

How’s this any different than raiding? I think in raids it’s harder to tell who is causing the wipe, but still… I’ve killed plenty of keys myself, who hasn’t? It’s part of the learning process. Do them enough times and you’ll feel very confident in them.
