You should add more Mythic end boss locked pets like Nah’qi to the game. As a hunter it’s very rewarding to beat the end boss of a mythic raid and gain the ability to tame something special. Having difficult but rewarding things like that is fun to me.
Only thing is that i wouldn’t make em exotic so SV can also enjoy something.
I enjoy a challenge tame or one that requires some actual hunting involved. If someone really wanted Nah’qi when it was current than they could have just paid for a carrier, that not skill.
How many carries would you have to pay for, though? Isn’t it something like a 0.19% drop rate (according to Wowhead)? I’m not hurting for money and I’d never waste my money on something like that.
ETA: Some lucky guy on Wowhead: “Got this mount today on my 60th kill, first time I saw it drop too. Didn’t believe it existed lol Was running it on 5-10 toons a week, this was week 8.”
You don’t need a carry now, you just pug mythic fyrak and kill it in 2 minutes. The mount was 100% drop rate during dragon flight
Yes, but the poster I was replying to was talking about when it was current.
As for me, I get super bored doing mount runs. Probably why I’ve never gotten Baron Rivendare’s mount or the Phoenix mount from the Sunwell. I just can’t maintain the interest and persistence.
Exactly, I think the only thing Sv had to something like this was the green demon wolf that was tamable after you killed a tough to kill (back then) open world NPC that had the cleansing vial to change the wolf from demon to beast. But…it was just a wolf with green hair dye.
There were some challenge tame cats on Argus that are non-exotic. I run one of them with my SV hunter pretty frequently. There are also some challenge tame mechanicals (though the challenges aren’t really hard).
ETA: Personally, I love Feathermanes. They might as well be exotics, because they have an extra ability, but they’re not, so SV can use them. There’s a lot of variety in their looks and most of them are badass. In the very vertical world of modern WoW, an Updraft with no CD comes in handy all the time when you want to jump down off something a little bit high, but don’t want to bother to mount. It’s saved me from more than a couple falling deaths, too.
When it originally opened it was 100%, so just had to pay for a run. Now it’s 0.19, so technically it more of a challenge.
They required a special meat that had a low drop, but Blizzard just changed it so you can tame them without it now.
I love my Feathermane, too. I tamed him during SL and used him quite a bit to jump over some of those tricky platforms in Torghast. Ever since, he’s been on my main-3 pet rotation.
It was guaranteed to drop two when the raid was current in season 3
The mount had a 100% drop rate of dropping two. You stil had to win the mount.
But we can use that for everything.
If you really wanted X you could’ve just purchased a carry/boost/pilot/etc
At the end of the day, during “current content” mythic fyrakk was still a bigger test of skill than any other “challenging tame”
Please DO NOT do this.
No more pets locked behind stupid insane gold costs.
No more pets locked behind content the majority of us can’t do until 3 years later.
It sucks. There are plenty of ‘prestige’ things in the game already.
There’s only a single hunter pet locked behind a mythic boss, theres plenty of pets for people who don’t mythic raid. Heck hasn’t even been a year, anyone can form a quick pug and kill mythic fyrakk right now for a chance at the mount. Takes no time at all
What pet was locked behind gold costs ?
And having 1 pet skin locked behind difficult content is fine.
Blazefeather Peacock.
Have to complete “The Perfect Wedding” storyline in Undermine, beginning with Or Else and ending with Ad-Hoc Wedding Planner. After the wedding is over and the storyline is complete, gather 500,000 gold and return to Grelik Greaseguard at the Exotics Market in Bilgewater Flats, and he’ll spawn it to tame.
Never knew, but honestly it sounds kind of fine ?
The model doesn’t look that unique for it to be a massive fomo, it doesn’t seem like a limited access, and i personally am ok with saying “i’m not willing to do x” (in this case paying 500k) and just not taming it.
But is it 500k per tame, or do you need to spend 1mil if you want 2 for AC also ?
Pay it once and you can tame as much as you want.
I’m all for more unique hard to get pets.
