Only in so much as that your expectation for it our unreasonable.
If you are going to PUG Mythics and expect that perfect 15-20 run you would get with a group of players who you have played with for 15 years… that’s a you problem, not the Group Finder’s.
WoW pugs cannot handle a timed, no replacements game mode. Something like Mythic+ doesn’t really work for the game. They need to just have a non timed dungeon where loot drops at the end of every boss, and if someone leaves you can find replacements.
time to run thru the whole dungeon pull everything. Dies and do it again and again and again and again and again until I get kicked out or people leave. And if I’m lead guess what people who left will now get the deserter debuff and show their public record in IO. Yea this can never be abuse like how people seems to think it can
I don’t doubt it happened to the OP but feeling like i’m lucky.
I can’t remember the last time it happened to me (ofc opening my mouth probably means its going to happen tonight).
People seem to be a lot more “tame”, specially the higher you go. Not saying group disbands don’t happen, they do sometimes but its usually a mutual feeling that the key is dead, not someone randomly dropping.
M+ works perfectly for the game. Classic players preach about how good Classic WoW is for being so social, being the real MMORPG experience, and M+ is just that.
If you expect to get very far without saying a word or knowing the people you’re doing keys with, you won’t get as far as doing it with friends.
Yeah…toxic players are pretty clever when it comes to being toxic lol. There’s just no way they’re going to allow themselves to get tagged with something like that.
…if it does, the community will just go back to demanding you have rio installed as the requirement for getting invites to pugs.
Look at how underused their built-in “voice chat” feature is
Like 99% of players used 3rd party comms like Discord… their Blizzard-built “voice chat” feature has been collecting dust/mostly unused since it was introduced.
Ultimately it is the pug community that decides what “the standard” is (raider io, Discord, etc etc), not Blizzard.
And a lot of people don’t like playing with people who feel their goals (timing) are the only ones who matter.
Some people want to time, some people have value in completion. Right now the former are just screwing over the latter. Yet the entire end of dungeon chest and vault systems are made for the latter.
We need a system were people like you can go off an do your thing without screwing up the others. The current system isn’t working.
Yeah, I mean its not there is anything wrong now. Its not like there are people who don’t feel they can run keys on the pugging system at all because of deserters.
Wait, that exactly how it is… I know a lot of people that feel that way…
Playing with friends is the best way to go about it, but if you need to pug, you need to utilize the group finder correctly. I’ve pugged the overwhelming majority of my keys and I have no issue with leavers.
I don’t have that problem because I vet my groups. Hosting or joining, it makes no difference. You need to check the other players. If the tank has no route or one of the other players is far below the appropriate io, leave that group before it starts. You’ll save hours of your time.
By all means… uninstall raiderio and just don’t do any vetting at all - just invite the first random players that sign up to your key, and let us know how it goes
Go ahead and invite that Rag tank, Demon Hunter from Illidan, 180 healer, etc etc
How on Azeroth do you go from a statement like, “I do my best to form a key group that has the greatest chance of success,” and come up with a response like
No, I’m suggesting that accept that some people have different goals and support a system where those who want to complete dungeons can coexist with those who only want to time them.
