Pugging Mythic+ is setting your valuable game time on fire, many groups implode before completion because players know there is no consequence to simply dumping a group if you wipe.
This is an awful game experience and allows key griefing with no recourse other than to form a group of friends, which is not an option for me and others because our friends quit playing.
That’s the point I’m getting at, add a dungeon deserter debuff or something. It really can’t be that much effort. Usually I’m just looking to complete for the vault, but people keep trashing the groups by leaving.
Instead, why not reward people for partial completion of runs?
If a run isn’t going to happen, it’s not going to happen. I don’t blame people leaving when nobody knows how to interrupt in a 15. But, on the other hand, I understand how frustrating it could be to get all the way there, put the key in, have it deplete, and get nothing.
I think it would be sweet if they gave some anima and maybe even a chance at one piece of loot for the group depending on how far you got (obviously the leaver would not be eligible for loot anymore).
I don’t know how it would impact the vault, but hopefully, the vault casino gets deleted and loot comes from the actual content again.
I’ll be honest, if the group I’m running with cannot down an encounter with both lust and prideful then I’m praying someone else drops so I can follow suit cause that key is either dead or impossible.
I’m completely ok with toxic players self-selecting themselves out of the LFD tool. Ideally Blizzard would do it for us with a low priority LFD or something for leavers, but that’s as likely as pigs flying.
If its a bad group or if its obvious it won’t be timed or if there is a real life issue that needs them to leave, what is the answer?
Nobody has ever come up with a viable answer. And what if you do punish them with a deserter debuff? If they feel the need to leave for whatever reason, they will just do other activities or play other characters while it ticks off. Few people are going to start a M+ with the intent of quitting; there is always a reason.
I mean you have people who are sick of the community knowing nothing changes leaving on the other side… so someone is going to lose.
Honestly, I’m an advocate for the Deserter Debuff that is just for show to warn other players. If you AFK whatever debuff it is that’s perfectly fine, just something to show “watch out for this guy” in the short term.
I also think this type of debuff doesn’t negatively impact anyone enough where leaving for IRL reasons or DCs will matter, especially if you mainly run with friends/guilds. The debuff would mainly help when you have to PUG people and know they are a liability.
