I have no basis for this, but if I had to guess, the thinking might have been that people doing lower keys were always complaining about the timer being there at all, so Blizzard morphed lower keys into a timer-less version.
But that’s just a guess.

True that but at the same time the people that complained about the timer are most likely not even doing dungeons but have moved on to delves
Yes, but the change was made in Dragonflight season 4, before there even were delves.
Agreed, go back to 6s giving final crests and 8s giving myth in vault, would go a long way to retention of a ton of players on the edge of quitting.

They might revert it, but they wouldn’t have done it as quickly as the following season, because people would have made fun of them on twitter.

No. If you can’t handle 10s you shouldn’t be rewarded myth track items.
6s and 7s are trivial by the time you need gilded crests.

People who wanted the best gear in the game for playing WoW’s equivalent of Candyland are upset, that’s understandable.
But giving out the best gear in the game for playing Candyland was a mistake in the first place, and has now been corrected.

Oh noes ppl cap their crests and get 3 chances at a piece of mythic gear once a week.
Its kind of weird to see how many people are upset and having less fun with this season and go “actually this is good because the peasants dont deserve 639”

Yes but addicts who had no problem getting their dopamine hits of easy Mythic gear were cut off cold turkey…which no rehab clinic worth their salt would recommended for a lasting recovery.

This logic is very flawed considering people were mythic raiding without heroic gear. It is not a requirement to do it. Sure, it makes it easier but gear makes everything in game easier.
People play this game for the beautiful characters within it. So naturally gear is the progression component that keeps people playing. They want to feel somewhat “complete.”
Mythic raiding offers exclusive titles, mounts, and things like the druid owl form from DF, etc. Also has unique trinkets with their own power spike. No need to make gear progression exclusive to it as well.

Just tell the truth that you want welfare gear because you need to overgear the content in order to clear it.
