The SL loot system looks good, but it need a few improvements.
in my opinion M+ players need a bit more attention. I think getting a 210 item level item at the end of a 18+ key isn’t fair. a 18 key is harder than any heroic boss. i know you cant compare a spammable content against a one week lockout content that requires a minimun of 10 players.
There’s a lot of solution for fixing M+ Loot… (its my opinion)
You can bring back valor points or something similiar, make it like conquest points from pvp, weekly caped.
1.1. Bring back Thaumaturge Vashreen selling only Dungeon loot.
1.2. You can use a system similiar to the BFA’s azerite system.
Vashreen sells a dungeon random chestpiece for example on distincts item level (200,210,220,226).
You can use Vashreen to sell dungeon only loot for valor points (or something like it)
2.1. create a mmr system for M+ like the raider io
2.2. use the MMR system to control how high Item level players can upgrade the item.
create a weekly cap for higher ilvl drops from M+ high keys.
for example: if you do a 18 or high Mists of thirna Scithe you have a chance to get a piece of loot 226 from that dungeon (cap it 2 itens per week) and make this loot not tradeable.
any of those should work fine. something close to any of them should work too. i hope we get some good news in a near future !!
Valor points would be awesome to buy a specific piece and upgrade it to 226. My bis trinket drops from DoS and i have a gigga small chance to loot it in GV. Rogues have the PF trinket aswell. If we had a 550 weekly cap on Valor and a farmable Justice Points to upgrade our piece would make Dg M+ much more atractible.
We could farm Justice doing M+ like we farm honor to 15k and a few Valor points. 55 Valor and 300~ Justice for each timed M+.
To upgrade the itens to 207 you need Ks conqueror. For 213, Ksm. And to upgrade your gear to 226 you need all 18s with a new achivement. Also doing a 18 could give us a chance of a weapon/offhand/shield 233 on the Gv.
This is where the issue comes into play. Blizzard saw how people were spamming M+ and then jumping straight into Mythic raids, effectively skipping Normal and Heroic. So they nerfed ilevel and droprates. Which lead to quite an unhappy experience.
I feel that M+ is like the red headed stepchild. It needs its own unique setup and gear, I think. I know that’s a route many wouldn’t agree with, but as it stands, no one is happy with the gearing from it, us or Blizzard— and for very opposite reasons.
I just think they need to integrate RIO into the game itself and have breakpoints just like rated PvP. On top of that give us a weekly capped resource, like Valor, that we could use to upgrade gear.
For example:
All 15s timed would allow upgrades to 213
All 18s timed would allow upgrades to 220
All 20s timed would allow upgrades to 226
Edit: I see a similar idea has already been brought up earlier in the thread. I’ll leave this here anyway.
Some were running Heroic first to fill in gaps that M+ hadn’t filled, but they were already overgeared for it. That was the issue. Spamming M+ was overgearing groups and skipping part of the progression system.
Yes, that’s why I said what I did.
Reverting it doesn’t solve the issue Blizzard has. They were relying on the Vault to fill in gaps with more choices, but people don’t like that either. They seem to expect the Vault to fill in the slots they specifically want.
As for the AoE cap, I don’t understand what that has to do with this topic.
They broke their own system and reinvented the wheel when M+ was originally introduced. It’s been a problem since its inception, in my opinion. Something better needs done with it.
The item level of mythic plus gear is simply not high enough. It’s not high enough for the effort, it’s not high enough for the average player to even progress within the same content from which it is earned. And that’s a damn shame
Free 197 gear from covenants one month into the game. People went straight from nothing directly into m+ because any other dungeon level was made irrelevant by design.
You cant do that with raiding. Pretending m+ is on par with mythic raiding in terms of end game content is insane. M+ is spammable. Raids arent.
Dont’ see any reason to choose 18 over 15’s like they did in BFA. 15’s in shadowlands are all ready harder than BFA dungeons. Easily comparable to doing a 17 or 18 in BFA.
The bigger issue with mythic+ isn’t the upper end. It’s the middle. Between 10-13 is a dead zone for tanks and can take a long time to fill a competent group. Nobody runs 15’s for the item level reward. They run it strictly for vault an KSM.
Players aren’t running 18’s for gear. They’re running it for leader boards. Some classes are also fairly weak in keys and it wouldn’t be fair to those classes if you made 18’s drop the best items for key runners.
12’s should be dropping 210 gear.
13’s should be dropping 213 gear
14’s 216
15’s 220
This would bring it more in line with PVP. I don’t see much of a reason to award 226 gear for completing 18’s. Then again I wouldn’t care if they went further up as well.
16 223
17 226
there you go perfect system. Except for the fact that it would make meta more mandatory than ever and most off meta specs would have zero chance of getting into 17’s. They currently aren’t even invited to 15’.s
It would also encourage stupid stuff like shadow priests having to be night fae for movement ability. But that’s more of a problem with how they designed the covenants and the fact shadow has terrible mobility to begin with. Still. Putting max reward at 18 is probably not a good idea for the sake of class balance within the game.
i honestly just cant believe they made it so we get MORE anima from mythic keys… not more actual EQUIPTMENT loot… Does anyone actually want more anima? lol
We should get 1 chest if we up the key 1 level… 2 chests if we up the key 2 levels… 3 chests if we up the key by 3 levels… Thats the way it used to be years ago and it worked out… I also feel like people competing at the higher keys 18+ as said above should be rewarded with something, not just a damn IO score.
I think improving Item level from loot to the same as heroic raids should be fair enough.
There are tons of players who are not interest in spending their time in raid groups, so I think there could be a better way to improve their gear instead of playing PvP insanely.
Or maybe allowing players to choose from which dungeon their weekly loot will come.
