I’ve been an avid mythic plus pusher for years now. I loved it. I looked forward to logging on to grind my keys, increase my score, and feel like the io numbers by my name meant something. But with the new in game rating system it’s now feeling like a chore. It’s not even a grind anymore, but like a straight up job, especially if your pugging.
By making the score for completing a dungeon flat rate instead of exponential they killed my enjoyment. By making the difference between timing it and going over by 5 minutes less than 10 they butchered it. And finally by forcing you to grind both tyrannical and fortified keys to eek out your rating each week they pissed on its grave.
This isnt the mythic plus I knew, but timed played metrics incorporated. Unless you have a dedicated team, or are willing to sit in lfg for 30 mins to an hour to get a group that isnt crap, you sit stagnate. Yes it was easy to get ksm. I got it the second week. Now two months in my score is only 150 higher., and it was a slog getting even that far. Maybe it’s because I’m alliance which already felt dead before the change, but this new system in my opinion is just another symptom of how WoW keeps losing it’s way for the all mighty stock price.

Raiding and the 1% is the poster child. The only reason people dont like keys is the timer cause the playerbase of wow is quite aged and wanna go slow. Pvp raiding keys all just as toxic. And raiding was quite old and boring so. And imagine everyone saying wow is dead when most mmos are lucky to have 50k. I dont get it groups always fill quick maybe you be trying to do at some really weird times. Communities hmm I could use but nah when there’s tons for keys only. Guilds hmmm nah I’ll pass to. Bnet friends nah if your good and just pug it’s easy to get friends that only pug.

You should swap horde… it’s such a big difference in who is available to run keys with. At some point there won’t be an alliance and Blizz will have to figure something else out.

The fact that the only proffered solution is to abandon ship and to to another faction is even more emblematic of the problem blizzard has created. They leave things to rot till there is no going back.

Blizzard didn’t create THAT particular problem, your fellow (former) Alliance did. They watched guilds doing content they’ll never touch switch for tiny insignificant advantages, and then followed. That created ACTUAL significant advantages in that recruiting and the overall skill level (because the casuals don’t need a progressed server to farm mounts in old raids and do pet battles) greatly shifted in favor of the horde. So more Alliance transferred because there was now an ACTUAL benefit to doing so (caused by the previous Alliance who chased that 0.1% on the raid boss they’d never fight.)

I’m 30, and most people I push with are not much younger and or older.
I have all 23’s timed.
It’s not all go go go. Mythic plus is all about strategy and creative pathing, along with exceptional gameplay and mechanical awareness.
At a certain point there is only so much damage you can do, especially with the target cap. So it’s all about pushing your limits, finding out the most streamlined route with pulls around cd’s.

I got KSM week 2 also, but now I’m 2399. With mostly pugs too. I have a few players I run with some times that are also pushing above 2250 with pugs as dps.
The scoring changed, but M+ didn’t. If you feel like having to do both tyrannical and fortified is a slog, then you really weren’t a key pusher to begin with.

I got KSM tonight on this guy, all but two +2s were done in the last 18 days. (Middle of main switching). It’s as fun as it ever was. Looking forward to pushing 20s for the portals.
The scoring system could use some work. 2100 and 2200 are worlds apart. That’s why they had the bonus IO in the first place, to make the tiers clearer. But overall, it’s basically the same game.
M+ (to me) is the best content in the game.
pugging is pugging. It’s probably the worst aspect of the game. Find a team, if you can’t find one start one. Be willing to teach and learn from each other rather than expecting success everytime

It’s because you’re Alliance. Blizzard killed off the playerbase that played both Horde and Alliance with its obsession on making playing alts unbearable, because for lots of players, Horde was their first and Alliance was the second they planned.
This entire expansion is a gigantic social engineering experiment being performed by researchers with no idea of what they’re doing, just preconceived notions they know must be true in their hearts, and failed systems and features from the past that are failing again.

It’s a filler for lack of content so don’t hate just don’t do if not your flavor.
I’ve always used it for a filler on raid lockout to fill slots, but with how crappy the rng is now on drops, it’s a fall back loot spot for your vault if raid spots give you the same worthless items week after week.
As a side note, the vault is a QoL feature that we never had before to help offset the RNG fiasco. Stop relying solely on your gear and master your rotation #1, find competent people to play with #2, then understand fight timing through sim with different settings based on your groups comp. Get it done or waste time crying about it in forums.
It’s been the same dungeons over and over again since released. Learn the mechs and maximize with a group.
M+ is a blast to me. Trying super hard to finally get ksm

Well the fact that half your gear slots for mythic plus have now become locked and have to be acquired outside of mythic plus doesn’t help either. I guess for me the new scoring system is just more emblematic of how hard it is to push anything, be it raid or mplus or pvp as alliance. Sitting through two hours of crap pugs a night wasn’t so terrible if timing one or two keys meant your score would go up 40 points. Now however it’s more like you have to time 5 to get the same result. The time investment vs reward just doesn’t seem to be there anymore, and when you only have a max of a dozen keys in the 18 range listed at peak server hours to try and get into its heart breaking.

If you did KJ when it was current, rocket boots were a bit more than 0.1%. It was closer to 3% per player that didn’t die to the knockback, even in heroic.
