Looking at warcraftlogs I see a lot of mixed Azerite preferences for Mythic +
I see some people going 3X Chorus of Insanity or 3X Searing Dialogue.
Which is the better way to go? I only see Chorus being better on Tyrannical weeks.
There’s two general directions to go. One is very good at mass aoe / large short to medium trash pulls, and the other is much better at longer trash pulls and bosses.
Trash / Mass Aoe: SD SD SD TH X X
Long Pulls / Bosses: COI COI SA SA X X
The X’s are because it’s not necessarily mandatory to have 6 specific traits. The value of SD in the SD build is so high that the ilvl of the SD trait takes precedent over what other trait option the items might have. And for the long pull / bosses build, traits are very subjective as to what you’ll want to round things out, TC, DT, Stat procs, even 1 whispers is fine, and of course additional COI / SA aren’t bad.
As for which is better? That really depends on the dungeon, level, affixes, and group composition. Dungeons like sethralis barely have any pulls relevant for SD SD SD TH, and the bosses heavily favour the other build even on fortified. Also when partnered with mass aoe specs like outlaw rogue which lack single target, it’s valuable to bring relevant damage compared to just more aoe.
Boralus is another example, where bosses being relevant, and trash not being relevant (Spotter cheese) leads you to take the more single target focused build.
As keys get higher, pulls also get longer. You will likely reach a point where, because of the gear and performance of your group, you find the chorus build starts to put in work on trash. For me this happens in the 18-19 range on fortifed, and I value the boss / large target damage on tyrannical anyway.
