Mythic+ Min Ilvl

Last night I tried my hand at mythic dungeons for the first time. I did a few Mythic 0’s to get my feet wet and it felt good and rewarding (got a few drops). I want to give Mythic+ a go, but I had a question involving Ilvl. What ILVL should I shoot for through Mythic 0s/raid finder, before I try to Mythic +2 or higher?

If you’re hosting your own key you can demand whatever you want up to YOUR ilvl (your average ilvl of bag gear, or equipped gear, whichever is higher). Completing any M0 dungeon will give you a random +2 key from the final boss of that dungeon the first time of the week and assuming you do not possess an M+ key yet.

If you’re joining someone else’s key I see you are playing a feral druid which is DPS and melee DPS as well. There are a billion melee DPS applying to M+ keys of all difficulty ranges, the vast majority of which will blow you away both in ilvl and M+ experience (also known as M+ score). Therefore expect many many declines to m+ groups applying as a DPS.

Of course you can easily clear any +2 at your ilvl of 387 but what is ‘required’ for a key and what is ‘required’ by group leaders are two very different things. The latter is often 20-30 ilvl above the former. Keep in mind that powerful gear up to near heroic raid quality (benthic) rains from the sky here in patch 8.2 so requiring excessive ilvls is not unreasonable.

Gotcha. Thank you for the response. I got a +2 key last night so it sounds like it would be most beneficial to host my own key.

Yes but also keep in mind that decent tank applicants for keys below + 10 are virtually non-existent. Outside of azerite traits there is a fair bit of gear overlap between feral druid and guardian (bear tank). You will find it very difficult to find a tank for your group hosting your key as a DPS. Therefore I strongly suggest you start learning how to bear tank (unless you know it already) and ‘push’ (host) your own M+ keys that way. This way you can also in the group title and/or description explain that this is a ‘learning group’ (or similar terms) or ‘for completion’ so that people understand there may be some wipes.

Noted about the guardian. I was considering this. One of the Myth 0 runs I ended up tanking due to us not being able to find a tank after a few minutes, of course that was with a HARD carry from a super geared disc priest. Thank you for the tip. I will more than likely shoot for tanking a few low keys to get the swing of things.

Yes that is the other benefit of hosting your own group, you can prevent carries from getting in, unless you are helping a friend (in which case you really should let other applicants know in the group description).

If you do eventually join groups do your due diligence and check the gear/ilvl immediately of everyone if they invite you. In lower keys sneak carries are extremely common and the group leaders will almost never tell you in advance until you find out through some painful surprise.

As you progress to higher keys where execution of mechanics properly is VERY important, let’s say the +8-10 range you need to start paying less attention to high ilvl (which is easy to get) and more attention to dungeon experience. By this I mean M+ score which is based on the M+ completion in your official armory profile and calculated on the site ‘raider. io’ (remove the space) where you can look up your profile (top right corner). For lower keys roughly each difficulty level of each dungeon if timed is worth 10 score. So for example timing 5 different dungeons at a difficulty level of +5 will give you at least 250 total score.

You can either use their site to screen applicants or use their addon at curseforge. com (remove the space). Either way unless you donate to them as a patron your profile will not appear in the addon until you have at least 250 total score, but you can always check the site for scores. The addon is more for in-game convenience, but requires updating as they update the addon once per day with new databases.
