Yesterday I got my shaman to 110. I get into an Underbog run. I was the healer. All was good healing wise, no deaths or near deaths and even when the tank was pulling all he could and not waiting for anyone it was still okay. However the group, as lead by the tank, was skipping trash and had a go go go attitude. At one point, on the trash before going to the last boss the group splits, some went ahead and bypass some of the trash, some lag behind. I get attack by trash. The group was not together and there was no way that I could dispel, heal and be in different places at the same time, especially since I was being attacked by trash at the same time all of this was going on. The group wipes. This is the only wipe so far before the last boss. The tank dies trying to come back by trash that was bypassed as he was leading this run and bypassing mobs.
So he starts complaining how I was not dispelling and how he needed help coming back to the group. I get kicked out of the group…
Just amazing… skipping trash and not clearing them in case we have to run back was his choice. It was his choice not to wait and move as a group and wait for all to be together before pulls. It was his choice to not think of the healer and others position before pulls and moving all as a group. He was pulling like he was playing alone and all should follow and keep his pace regardless.
I think the go go go mentality of mythics and beating a timer has changed the perspective of many players.
It is also concerning that one wipe can cause so many people to go nuts.
I had played since day 1 and this is new type of toxic playing. I can handle it but I do not like it. Getting kicked did not hurt my feelings. I got into another group, did another dungeon, no problems.
In this day of age especially with players saying “git gud” as if that solves the problem of the whole scenario of a person’s mentality. Yes welcome to toxicity era where players are competitive in a negative way.
As someone who has played since “day one” I understand kicking you in this instance. I have limited time to play the game and don’t have time for people to “lag behind and smell the roses.” I did a island expedition on heroic yesterday and the Fury warrior in the group was using his artifact weapons from Legion and a number of 325 ilevel blues. When we pulled a large AoE group I was pulling 30k DPS, he was pulling 3k. On a large boss I would be doing 14k, he was lucky to be doing 1k. This isn’t fair to me, I don’t have good gear just crap from world quests and LFR yet I have to carry someone that shouldn’t even be doing normal. Back in the day I wouldn’t care back in the day but today I just don’t care enough to carry someone that doesn’t care enough to bother putting on weapons from this expansion.
I said the mentality of the tank. When I tank I take my time to be sure we are all together, and especially the healer is in no harms way. There is no point in rushing ahead and leave others behind, then complain about the results. I had seen this go go go, and I did not see this in the past.
If we had killed the trash 30 sec maybe… he, the tank, would had not died like he did trying to come back.
do good or get out but as a tank im willing to bet you just had a toxic group. ive only been kicked from raids/dungeons once in the past year, and its cause i wasnt paying any attention on a normal Shrine run, where i failed to move that one add out of her invulknerability ring, i wasted 3 minutes of that groups time on 1 mob, i deserved to get kicked
When you spend 10 min waiting, yes. I have been in too many 5 mans over the last 15 years that when one wipe starts the same person wipes the group over and over and over. Intentional or not it has happened to me too much to care anymore. If this was classic where finding a replacement would take an hour then no I wouldn’t kick the person because it would be better to try teach them. Now a days why bother?
My favourite “Mythic Mentality” is me playing my Paladin and being told NOT to dispel because I’m DPS and should DPS and it stuffed up the Healer who wasted GCD’s dispelling me and my target.
i always wonder why people DONT understand that, if you sign up for M+ and i have to babysit you, your not getting invited again. no one should have to tell you mechanics for a dungeon if your doing mythic+ runs. the only mechanics that i should have to explain are the current weeks affixes
If you split off from the tank or pulled trash that was skipped it’s your fault the group wiped. If you’re with the tank and the dps follow someone else it’s their fault let them die.
That’s how you treat it. Not everyone is you. I know that I always envision best-case stuff. Like if I know my favorite group of friends could have cleanly handled whatever that situation was and I die, I get upset. Not necessarily at anyone in particular, and I doubt I’d start a vote-to-kick (because that’s just not who I am as a player, similar to how I’m not like you either) but that’s that person’s prerogative if they want to use the system and others agree.
Ultimately, a better player probably could have handled the situation and avoided the wipe.
